Always a good reminder:

For all my friends with dogs- take note: Corn cobs are very dangerous if ingested and can be fatal.
Bentley found a corn cob in the trash and ate it. I researched it and learned quickly that it was a medical emergency so I called the Vet ER. They advised me to treat it like ingestion of any foreign object and induce vomiting with peroxide (using a 5ml oral syringe with hydrogen peroxide and repeat every 5 min x 4). They said if he did not vomit within 2 hours to bring him to the Vet ER for surgery. Evidently corn cobs are NOT digestible and basically tear their intestines apart or become glue-like and cause a blockage (both fatal).
Fortunately he vomited after about 30min and I found 5 large chunks of corn cob. I read about another Boxer (in a vet forum) who ate a corn cob and required surgery, almost died and cost $7,000 medical expenses. I also read some stories where it was fatal  (so scary!)
As you can imagine- my nerves are wrecked but my baby boy is resting now and the vet seems to think he will be fine. I wanted to share this because it is so important to keep hydrogen peroxide and an oral syringe on hand for emergencies. The window to induce vomiting is very short before the object enters the digestive system/intestines and then it’s too late.

Perhaps I did not make myself abundantly clear to the naysayers who feel we should not be breeding purebred, dogs but rather should adopt and save the poor creatures in shelters. How on earth do you think they got there?? It is because someone and a great number of someones didn’t care. These dogs are cross breeds, street dogs, imports from other countries, often the result of unplanned litters, strays and owner relinquished, neglected and abandoned because there was no support system in place to protect them and provide for them. And yes sometimes they are even purebred. We know you take great pride in establishing that fact, but only a very small percentage of shelter dogs are questionable purebreds, as quality breeders cannot and will not allow their dogs to become wards of the humane society system. And now you would wish that we should rescue them all rather than offer well bred, healthy, temperamentally stable beautiful canines to those who desire to own them. We have chosen to preserve our beautiful purebreds for the generations to come as they have been for us. We do not criticize you for choosing to adopt from a shelter and we respect and encourage your right to do so. Please respect our right to breed purebred dogs, that are true to a standard and recognized for their beauty and purpose worldwide. We love all dogs and continue to support breed rescues and local shelters but we cannot save them all, as long as there are those who would exploit the canine. We implore you to understand our position and think wisely before speaking and slandering preservation breeders and purebred dog advocate

I am a breeder. I spend a lifetime learning pedigrees, going over dogs, talking, and learning from those in my breed and those outside it. I raise each litter as if I gave birth to them and spend an equal amount of time finding them loving forever homes. I only put puppies on this planet that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) and nicest examples of their breed. I support each family who chose one of my puppies and let them know they are now a part of our extended family. I am there if one needs to come back. I support my breed in rescue and education. I hold them when they arrive and leave this world. I share my knowledge and socialize my dogs so that they will be the advertisement for my dedication. I don't keep track of the money and time I put in to my love of dogs, it would not be a true measure of how I feel. The price I charge for my puppies is never profit, but investment in the next generation. I am not ashamed of who I am... I work hard at being a good dog person and encouraging others to be the same. I am a breeder and I am proud of it. If we don't support each other - we are doomed as a fancy. Copy and post if you agree

am a dog breeder. I spend a lifetime learning pedigrees, going over dogs, talking, and learning from those in my breed and those outside it. I raise each litter as if I gave birth to them and spend an equal amount of time finding them loving forever homes. I only put puppies on this planet that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) and nicest examples of their breed.
I support each family who chose one of my puppies and let them know they are now a part of our extended family. I am there if one needs to come back and will aggressively pursue the return of one of my dogs if it's in the wrong place. I support my breed in rescue and education. I hold them when they arrive and leave this world.
