My first dog was a Galgo. I lived in Sweden and didn't know they were anything else than super elegant and sweet dogs that needed a coat in the winter and enjoyed the sofa. When moving to Spain I wasn't aware of that the dogs were still used for hunting in a rather cruel way. After hunting season they were left, killed or abandoned if not being very successful. I can still remember my first photos of a dead Galgo hanging from a tree. 😭 Absurd, horrifying.
It seems like we come a long way in Spain. Most people don't treat their pets with ignorance any more.
But we still have many miles to go...
Tag your photos, spread the word, adopt, be a member of any Galgo or Podenco rescue group. Foster if you can. Together we are putting a Galgo in almost every other home and in every country. Yey way to go.... Thanks for caring!
Give a Galgo or a Podenco (same situation for the Podencos ) the life they so deserve. They make just the most wonderful pets..
