I begin crate training at 5 weeks old by creating a conditioned emotional response. I don't believe in shutting puppies in crates and letting them cry it out. I also never send puppies home until they are comfortable being crated.
Trying to get pics of puppies is the hardest!!!
We added crates to their world today.
By the time our puppies go to their forever home, we like them to be zooming into their crates and happy to sleep in there overnight.
When they spend their first night away from us, we want their crate to be a comfort.
Every day we introduce the puppies to some new weird thing. Today was Mamma Llama. The puppies were very interested 🤣
This was the most dramatic barrier challenge we've ever done!
I had to edit it down because it took 10 minutes and help from Opal for them all to make it over the side.
Barrier challenges can look like puppy torture. However it's important that puppies get the opportunity to problem solve. Studies have shown that these exercises create.
•Improved ability to learn and remember
•More emotional stability
•Better resiliency to stress
*No puppies were starved in the making of this video*
