I am sorry I haven’t made an update in a little while! Everyone is getting big and gaining weight which is good. This little one today accidentally licked his brothers butt rather than mama nipple and we had a pretty mess situation. We have now learned that poop doesn’t taste very good though lol
These little guys are almost two weeks old now. They are starting to learn how to walk and are beginning to learn to play even though that just opened their eyes about three days ago
I know I’ve already made a post but this is some more information-
Thanks to Celia Ware who tagged me in a post on the Lawrence lost and found pets, we were able to find this kitty and get her indoors we named her Athena! She is less than 1 year old and is not micro chipped. She is pregnant and the vet said she will likely give birth in about 2 weeks. He did not X-ray her but he suspects at least 2 kittens will be born. I posted my own in case she does belong to someone and some people were concerned about us making the choice to not surrender her. The sad thing is a lot of people are Misinformed or just haven’t been informed at all. Most animal shelters actually DO NOT have the ability to care for kittens under 8 weeks old. Most shelters when they are given a cat that is pregnant they spay which ultimately terminates the kittens. It is not painful and is the best way to minimize more animals being brought into this world which already has a lot of cats. Everyone has their own point of view and I respect both sides. The pregnancy of this cat is important to Celia and I for our own reasons and I am happy to fully support. I have fostered 20 kittens and was able to work very closely with Celia on the care for one of my liters last year. I am confident in her skills and she knows I am one phone call away. I took the time during the winter and I am able to administer fluids if she becomes dehydrated as well as be able to tube feed her babies if there are any complications. Neonatal kittens are very fragile and require 24/7 care, our animal shelter like many others doesn’t have the ability to give that kind of care. Many animal shelters if they are not able to find a foster family by the end of the day they euthanize them because it would be unethical to leave them over night. This is why I and many other people have made the choice to foster. I am hoping this year to spread awareness and possibly get a large enough fallowing that maybe WE can make a difference and
