We find homes for homeless Dobermans in DC, MD, VA, DE, WV, and southern PA Once a DAR&E dog; always a DAR&E dog.
DAR&E is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of homeless Dobermans in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Delaware, and in portions of both eastern West Virginia and southern Pennsylvania. Our primary directive is to provide veterinary care and foster homes for rescued Dobermans and to place them into loving, permanent homes through our adoption process. We provide support and camaraderie to adoptive families throughout the lives of the Dobermans we rescue.

Meet Drey, the Perfect Adventure Buddy! š¾
š Drey just turned 2 on August 15th, and heās ready to find his forever family! Drey is a handsome black & rust male Doberman with cropped ears and a docked tail. He's a curious explorer who enjoys car rides, daily walks, and sniffing out new adventures. Heās been working hard on his training, learning cues like "come," "down," "stay," "leave it," "paws up, "and more. His ideal home will appreciate the joy of training and continue his progress.
šØāš©āš§ Drey thrives on human companionship, but because of his energy, will do best in an adult-only home or one with older children (16+). Families with Doberman experience and kids 12+ might also be considered. Drey is not great with other dogs, so a solo pet household or a playmate that matches his size and energy will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Due to his squirrel-chasing nature, a home without cats is recommended.
š” A fenced yard is a must for this energetic boy! Drey is full of life and needs space to stretch his legs and play. Home and backyard play won't be sufficient for this vibrant guy. He will need multiple daily enrichment activities like walking, training, or outings. His ideal family will continue his crate training, which helps him feel secure and relax.
Drey was surrendered by his former family because they found him too much to handle. In his foster home, Drey is thriving with two daily adventures that provide mental stimulation, exercise, and socialization. From exploring parks to attending baseball games, Drey is learning to navigate the world with confidence.

š Exciting News! Leo Has Found His Forever Home! š
Weāre thrilled to share that Leo, our 4-year-old velcro Dobie goofball, has been adopted and is off to his forever home! š¾ Leoās new family is ready to keep up with his high-energy personality, and we know Leo is in for a future full of cuddles, love, and companionship. His sweet and goofy nature captured the hearts of everyone he met, and we couldnāt be happier for him!

New dog Leo is available for adoption!
Leo is a 4 year old Doberman. He is a textbook velcro goofball dobie who just wants to be by your side and playing with you whenever possible. He is a high energy guy who needs a home with people who are active. Running around in the yard doesnāt cut it for him, he loves hikes, and new places. He love playing frisbee and tug of war with his big tire toy. He loves to train. He is very treat motivated. He knows basic commands and is fairly good on a leash when walked frequently. He can have a bit of a stubborn streak if you get lax with his routine, he will push boundaries. However, if you manage to tire him out, heās more than happy to cuddle with you on the couch. His barking is mostly limited to when he hears car doors or knocks, but he does have that typical Doberman whine to let you know heās bored. He is crate trained, and goes in, no fuss. He is used to sleeping in it at night and for short periods randomly, if needed during the day. Heās good in the car and good with other dogs. He is not so great with cats or other small animals. He has a high prey drive and loves to chase. He is generally a happy sweet guy who just needs someone who can give him the active & fun filled life he deserves.

DAR&E's adoption event was a success!!! Thank you so much to the volunteers/adopters and Dobermans that were able to come out! We had many people come by to talk to our volunteers and to see the Dobermans. The owner of the store was so excited for us and invited us to come back in the Fall.

Thank you for those of you who have recently donated to our rescue. We have been talking to our foster parents and hospice dog foster parents about what supplies they currently need. We are good on our current supplies of Sensitive Stomach dog food. We do need regular PPP Chicken dog food, PPP senstive stomach dog food for age 7+, omega 3 fish oil, pill pockets, and GlycoFlex. Batman is enjoying his pup cup!!
Meet Coco! She is a sweet, 9-year-old Blue Doberman. She loves to be anywhere and everywhere that you are! Coco is a healthy girl who weighs about 66 pounds and has a docked tail and natural ears. Coco also has a beautiful full coat of fur. Coco is house-trained. She is not a fan of being crated so I have left her with the run of the house when I am not home without incident. Coco will whine when I am gone so she would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time. Coco enjoys using her nose to explore our yard and loves taking walks in our woods and down our road. Coco may jump around and pull on the leash if she sees a cat or other small animal. Coco gets excited when she sees deer. She also loves to relax and lay in the sun when outside! If youāre looking for an older, calmer Doberman then Coco would be a great companion for you. Meet Batman, a 2-year-old black and rust male with cropped ears and a natural tail. He is a sweet, friendly, loving boy who follows me around wanting to know everything Iām doing. He is very happy, and wiggly and loves to give kisses. He enjoys playing with my dogs or is content to play with a toy or chase his tail. He rides well in the car and walks pretty well on a leash. He is very food-motivated and picked up on the routine here quickly. He has good house manners although like a lot of dogs he may take food items off counters if the opportunity presents itself. Batman weighs about 60 pounds and has a big personality. He has a good energy level having plenty of energy for play or exercise but also good for relaxing and hanging out. He is crate-trained and likes a Kong or chew toy while in there. He is good out of the crate overnight but is content to be in his crate when I am not home. He has learned to sit for treats. Heās unfamiliar with cats or small children but is good with other dogs. Heās a happy, super cool guy looking for his forever home. Batman is fostered in Virginia. Meet Max, a 3-year-old, black/rust, docked, natural-eared lump of sweetness that weighs in at around 74lbs and has average activity level. Max is a sweetheart that has yet to meet a human he has not liked. He is house-trained and spends his time while we are away in his ex-pen snoring away. He's learning how to wait to go out of a door until given the okay, he knows sit and down, has started to wait to eat until given the okay and we are working on him giving his paw. He will need solid work in his leash manners. We have never had an issue taking anything away from him and he has had no problems if you approach his bowl while he eats. At night he sleeps on a bed in our room and from day one has just gone with the flow of our routine and has blended right in. In his previous home, he lived with four other dogs and a cat. He liked to chase the cat. Max will make sure that you are never alone and will follow you wherever you go. He will lay his head in our lap for love and will look up at you with complete adoration and just wait for you to pay attention to him. He's had baths and nail trims while with us and has done well with both. Max is waiting for a family that will love him for who he is and will help him become the dog he can be. Meet Iris Iris is a 10-month-old black and tan female with natural ears and a docked tail. Due to her young age, she requires a fully fenced yard (e-fence ok). She currently weighs about 40 pounds but is still growing. Iris is a sweet and friendly girl who is well-behaved with puppy energy. She is housebroken and has good house manners. She likes to play with her squeaky ball or other toys. She stays quietly in her crate while Iām at work but is fussy if sheās in the crate when Iām home. Iris hasnāt yet learned what is friend or foe, so she barks at things she sees and hears at first. She pulls on the leash out of excitement when walking but was well-behaved in the pet store. She is friendly with everyone she meets. She does tend to jump on people she meets out of excitement. These are typical young dog behaviors that we are working on correcting. She has done well with my dogs but is unknown with cats or small animals. Iris is a sweet, silly, happy girl looking for her forever home. Meet Koba! https://www.dobe.net/dogs_for_adoption/koba/ 1-year-old male with a docked tail and cropped ears that donāt stand up. Koba is a dream. Sweet, friendly, intelligent, just a good boy all around. Easy to train, wants to please, and loves treats. He knows āsitā, āstayā, and ācrateā. He sits and waits nicely for his leash to be put on for a walk. He will sit and wait until you put down his meals until you say okay to release him. Heās playful, goofy, and loves a basket full of toys, stuffed animals especially. Heās full of curiosity and pulls on the leash to get to whatever catches his nose. He is food motivated and is interested in what tasty smells are coming from the kitchen but has never taken anything from the counter as heās always supervised. He is crated when left home alone and is good for up to 8 hours and overnight. He greets new people with great enthusiasm and likes to give kisses. He lets you do just about anything to him, like brushing his teeth, cleaning his ears, and giving him a bath (when he has no escape). He just likes the attention. Although in his foster home, he has not had much interaction with other dogs, he was tested at the shelter meeting another dog, and did fine. He would probably love to have a playmate at home as he has a lot of energy. Koba is in Virginia.
