A big shout out to the pawrent who encouraged me last week to book flights & then made it happen π₯Ήπ«Ά
This was going to be a zen, me-and-sun trip, but as always, the universe had other wonderful plans π€
The host of the apartment Iβm staying in has two adorable rescue dogs. It was the first apartment that came up in my search! A couple of days before I left, I had a random thought: "I wonder if there are any animal rescue centres nearby?" And not only was there one, but the host of the apartment knows someone who volunteers there!
On just 2-3 hours of sleep, after flying just under 4 hours, I met the volunteer at the airport, who kindly drove me to the animal shelter. The shelter @saraprotectora has been running since 1986! Anyone can volunteer to walk the dogs from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. All you have to do is fill in a form and pay 4 euros for insurance. You don't get to choose which dog you will walk, which makes the experience even more wonderful. Some of the doggies I walked had clearly been through awful experiencesβtheir scars still presentβbut they welcomed me with open arms. It was so heartwarming.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who made this happen. I am so grateful.
