Free Veterinary Student Event: Bird of Prey Mini-symposium
If you would like to know more about the unique biology of raptors and raptor medicine, this mini-symposium might be something for you! On May 6th Dr. Jaime Samour, diplomate of the ECZM Avian, and European specialist in Avian Medicine and Surgery, will tell us about the origin and taxonomy of birds of prey, going back to our very own Archaeopteryx! In his second presentation, we will learn about the physiological and morphological characteristics that makes a raptor, well, a raptor.
Dana Franzen-Klein will join us for the second half of the evening. She is the medical director of The Raptor Center, University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, and will give us a lecture on raptor rehabilitation. During her lecture she will speak on the wild patients that are admitted for rehabilitation and released and go over clinical conditions that are common in birds of prey.
Make sure not to miss out on this promising mini-symposium! This event is hosted by veterinary study association Archaeopteryx and the Avian Association of Veterinarians.
