dragon snort!

Peanut's dragon snort is just two awesome not to post again. Look at that trot!

And, a shout out to Absorbine for its amazing Bute-Less! Peanut's always had a little hitch in his giddy up, so to speak, in his left hind leg. I started him on Bute-Less a few months ago and I'm so pleased with the results that I've put Peanut's pasture buddy, Haflinger mare Cat, on it as well. Cat's 25 years old and lately is stiff achy some days, old girl. A nice improvement with her as well.

heading home

Liberty work outside the ring today. Down the driveway and up and down the road. Heading back to the barn he got a little ahead of me but mostly to try to catch up with Ella kitty who accompanied us. He didn't stop to eat the grass or wander off. So pleased.

ella kitty monster

I almost didn't go out to play with Peanut today . . . it was so dark, damp, and chilly . . . I'm so glad I did! Ella kitty joined us out in the ring and hilarity ensued. Two more videos in the comments below!

play time

Snuck in some play time today. Practiced long lining in the ring and ground driving on the road after some free playtime in the ring to start.

screen test

Nicole came to the farm today to help Little Rasta Man who had enucleation surgery on Wednesday. Nicole checked in with Rasta and the herd with flowtrition, checking their chakras and helping balance them, and having "conversations." It was all videoed by David and prior to filming Peanut was on his best behavior. Once Rasta was the center of attention and filming began, Peanut let Nicole know he wanted all the attention by getting a bit mouthy. When she told him he couldn't do that and participate, he shook his head. Was so awesome. Watch for Nicole's video coming soon!

free rein

Our second day of trying liberty work and Peanut's trotting around me in a circle. That Peanutty, so darn clever.

Adventures of Peanut

Yesterday was snow flurries and cloudy but we got out in the ring and did some trot sets and work on learning more voice commands for steering.

missed playing

Oh, I so missed this little guy while at Equine Affaire for four days. Just no time to do anything but work at Equine Affaire, feed ponies, feed kitties, feed wood stove, and sleep. Today he tried out his new muzzle while I set up the ring with some fun obstacles. He had a blast playing!

Just an adorable mini getting the mail. 😍

Another short clip of Peanut at the DAR State Forest on Saturday. Today was pony aerobics in the round pen as time was short.

pony express

Peanut carried the mail and newspaper in his saddle bags today! One surprise . . . he gave a big, full-body shake and mail flew everywhere. He just stood there watching it all flutter to the ground and blow away.

stormy night

Never. Stopped. Pouring. So, here's Peanutty with his crew tonight at dinner.

dar state forest

Today we went on our second voyage. Our destination, the DAR State Forest in Goshen. What a gorgeous day! We wandered the beach, boat ramp, dam, woodland trails, and even crossed a big wooden bridge. We also met many seniors out walking, ducks on the lake, and a fisherman. An overall good experience.

Here's the Peanut Mobile aka Bumble set up. Still needs a few adjustments . . . but worked out well for our maiden voyage.

seeing eye pony

Peanut's training includes being a potential seeing-eye pony for Little Rasta Man who's blind. Rasta also needs to allow this to happen. Rasta's training already includes long lining and prior to his blindness, he knew how to longe. It's truly hard to long line Rasta now as he can't see any of my visual cues (and, they're so ingrained in me, I still do them) . . . good thing he knows these voice commands: walk on, trot, easy, and whoa from his early training to be a carriage pony . . . phew.

maiden voyage

Peanut took his maiden voyage to the Fun Day at the HCRC grounds just a few miles away.

snacks

For a few weeks no rain and the pasture stopped growing. So, after conditioning this evening, a little snack of Safe Starch Forage.

shade under apple tree

This was a hot day and we were doing hill work toward more weight loss, for both of us. There was a lovely breeze under the shade of the old apple tree.
