The Casper Community TNR Program is a nonprofit in conjunction with Temporary Home Animal Rescue
The Casper Community TNR Program is a nonprofit that works in conjunction with Temporary Home Animal Rescue Inc. toward the goal of stabilizing the community/feral cat population in Casper. This is made possible through grant funding, donations, personal contributions, and the fabulous work done by our animal loving volunteers. Our goal is to connect with like-minded cat lovers, local agencies, ve
terinarians, property/business owners, and colony caretakers within the area to help provide education, assist with Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), socialize/re-home feral kittens (tame cats) as available, assist with building cat shelters/feeding stations, and work at the local level to help change laws to protect community and feral cats. If you have any questions, have colony information, are taking care of a cat colony, would like to volunteer, or wish to donate please send us a message! To learn more about TNR please visit:
So grateful for our amazing group and partnerships! It has been an amazing year so far in responsibly helping Casper’s homeless cats and kittens 💕 Please reach out via FB Messenger or at [email protected] if interested in donating or volunteering.

This picture is a sad reminder when feeding community cats to ALWAYS use a dish that can be washed/reused, a large flour tortilla which will eventually be eaten by something, or paper plates/bowls that can be discarded (never leave litter, it causes negative attention on the “cats”)!
These community cats cannot exactly be taken into a veterinarian if injured from eating out of a sharp can. The infection and pain from this type of injury can possibly result in the cat never being able to eat again! Probably not the original intent 😿

Aww 🥰 kitten season, exhausting saving feral babies but always worth it 💕 Please spay and neuter your outdoor cats folks because many of these kittens will never make it into a cat rescue 🙏

Huge thanks to everyone who has donated toward the mass TNR/rescue we plan to begin working on this month. The first set of kittens rescued from this location are doing great!
If you would like to donate toward this effort please email us at [email protected] or send us a message on Facebook Messenger.
We cannot do this without your support! Thank you 😻❤️🙏

Hi Facebook followers! We really need your help 🙏
Imagine a place where during Covid people who were losing their jobs, homes, everything else, and as a last resort even started dumping their “in tact” cats because they could no longer care for them financially 😮 This is a reality! The compassionate caretakers feeding and looking out for the cats in this area have reported nearly 200 cats are now there.
Casper Community TNR Program would like to focus on this cat colony to help end the suffering by spaying/neutering, vaccinating, and rescuing the kittens and friendly cats to get them into a forever home.
If you are able to help us in this massive undertaking by donating, please reach out to us via Facebook Messenger or email - [email protected]. We will arrange to come meet you to pickup any donations since we are a very small all-volunteer group and do not have a website.
Any amount will help and we are also hoping a large donor is out there who loves cats and believes in the work that we do! 🙏
We have brought in these 7 kittens and 4 friendly cats from the area so far. All are being medicated and will soon be fixed, vaccinated and go into their forever homes!
With your kind donations, we will be able to help so many more!
Thank you ❤️😻❤️😻❤️😻

We’ve rescued very sick kittens from this feral cat colony in the past and are working diligently to stop the suffering. 9 cats are now S/N and vaccinated with 7 more to go!
Please send us a message if you would like to volunteer or donate! 😻

💡 Here's a brilliant idea for trying to determine whether kittens are abandoned or whether momma is tending to them. (Usually, mom is nearby, but this is a great way to be sure.)
Simply place a ring of flour around the kittens. Perhaps use a bucket as a template and lightly flour around the rim. We would sprinkle a bit lighter than in the photo below so as not to panic the mother. If you return and see paw prints, you'll know mom was there. 🐈🐾
As a reminder, try not to disturb the nest and keep a distance. If momma cat thinks you've found her babies, she'll move them. 🚛

If you find newborn kittens outside, please do not pick them up! LEAVE THEM BE!!!!

Outdoor cats, often called feral cats or community cats, are domestic cats who live outdoors and without a clear owner.

Wow! This is absurd. Agencies who have recently blamed the feral cat population, which have existed among birds since like the dawn of time, for killing these birds are poisoning them 🤔 This only demonstrates further that HUMANS are the cause for all of these birds dying.

Hi folks! We are currently sold out of our insulated winter cat shelters 😾 but we have some misc. supplies on hand to help make them so if you need our assistance/guidance making one, please send us a message or email! With the below zero weather these shelters can be life saving for your community kitties!
TNR is an acronym for trap/neuter/return and is the most humane method of community cat population control. TNR is a process whereby unowned, free-roaming cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped and returned to the outdoor habitat where they were found. 🐾
TNR is a team effort. A trapper will humanely trap any number of cats. The cats are then transported to a TNR clinic where a veterinary team prepares the cat for surgery. (Most "regular" veterinary offices will not treat feral cats.) The cats are spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian at a clinic and are vaccinated for rabies and distemper. The vet will also use a cauterized knife to remove the tip of the cat's left ear, giving the cat an ear-tip. (An ear-tip is the universal sign that a cat has been through the TNR process.) Afterward, the cats are retained until they recover. Males are usually released as soon as anesthesia has worn off completely. Females are typically held 2 - 5 days, depending on their stress level and the condition of their incision. No removable stitches or cones are used during the TNR process as most of these cats cannot be handled. There are no scheduled follow-up visits.
After the cats return to their outside homes, a caretaker will typically provide food, water, shelter, care and love. Outdoor cats in a managed colony have a typical lifespan of 10 years. Outdoor cats without a caretaker have a lifespan of 2 years. Your indoor pet cat might live 15-20 years. Human interaction is critical to their well-being!🤗
In addition to preventing unwanted litters, TNR also improves the health of community cats by providing essential vaccines to protect against disease. Also, the risk of certain cancers are mostly eliminated thanks to sterilization. Community cats also become better neighbors once sterilized as undesirable behaviors associated with reproduction -- such as fighting, yowling and marking -- are eliminated. TNR is a win-win proposition!🤝

PSA: There's been misinformation about ear tipping circulating & a general lack of information, so here's the answer! 😻
The ear tip (always the left ear, in my area, anyway), is the Universal sign that a cat has been spayed/neutered. It doesn't mean a cat is feral, some owners of tame cats request an ear tip if their cat goes outside. The ear is tipped while the cat is under anesthesia for surgery, so it doesn't feel any pain. Nor is the ear painful at any time afterwards. The ear is tipped so volunteers doing TNR (trap, neuter return) don't re-trap a cat that has already been S/N and waste a surgery appointment. 💜 🐈😻

3 litters rescued, and a year and a half later, “Gracie” has finally been TNR’d! She didn’t make it easy for us, that’s for sure.
…Our foster just reminded me of the 11 hour day spent to trap her last 3 kittens (was a litter of 6). They must’ve learned from mama 😜
