I sure love these yearly visitors in my main barn. They find the craziest places to build their nests. This nest they put on the shepherd hooks on the wall, good thing I don’t need to use them often. Love my Barn Swallows, gustiest birds I’ve ever had to swoop at me everyday when doing barn chores. They are harmless, just protecting their young.
Animals do amaze me all the time. The two photos show that the deer have no fear of goats and the goats have no fear of the deer. Both being prey species they feel safe with each other. This doe is seen often with her fawn, I’m sure she has it just beyond the tree line.
After the storm. This is paradise if you’re a goat. This is actually paradise for anyone that loves natural beauty. That definitely is me. 😊🐐Halo Ranch Somers, Ct.

For those of you that know us personally, which is many and so many of you have become dear friends over our 24 years of business. Cheryl and Auburn are still working full time with myself, Chris Clark. Many of you are aware that we closed Chris's Squirrels and More for retail sales last October of 2023, I'm getting older, thought I would semi-retire, I guess when we choose the life of animals and family and still choose to run a business, we never really retire, lol. Squirrel Appreciation Day is today. Our gang in rehab for the winter. Some are healing and some are youngsters waiting for better weather. Meet Zoey, a pet squirrel that a person no longer wanted at about the age of 7 plus, very sad story for an animal that knew no other life and no longer wanted by anyone, and didn’t like anyone but her original owner. Regretfully due to malloclusion issues, she was forced to deal with me. Now three years later, was at death’s door once again, I was able to turn her around, will she ever be able to see the wild that she never knew, probably not, but she’s happy while she’s here, her days are numbered, but as long as she’s not in pain I will take care of her. Than, we have Red, a female squirrel, came in about a month ago. Injured with neurological symptoms, she has fully recovered, waiting for the weather to break from this cold with hopes of getting her back to where she came from very soon. She’s an adult, most likely pregnant, she is far better off giving birth back to the wild than in my clinic. And than we have the 4 kids, let them out loose in the clinic tonight, face it, it is Squirrel Appreciation Day today, so letting them play. They are just waiting on weather to break and an outdoor enclosure to open up so they can get outside, the kids were late fall babies. So I closed Squirrels and More to have more time in my life, I guess I’ll never truly retire, my animals are my life, and yes my human family is also my life but I will always appreciate my squirrels for everything they have taught me over the many years as well as all the other animals I have always cared for, whether it it be my domestic animals, my farm animals, or my wildlife, they have all made me a better person. Thankful for all my babies, young and old. Human or animal. The very last image is me and Holly, a fall baby with a severe broken bone in her hip. We tried to fuse it with time, there was no way to set the break, amputation was not an option, regretfully I had to euthanize her two days after this photo due to a bone infection. She sure was a cutie and I sure wish I could have saved her, regretfully I could not. Not the best photo of me, but this was me and Holly 2 days before she died, yes, I was drinking, Holly was not drinking, but we had a lot of fun that night. RIP Holly.🥰🐴🫏🐿️🐐🐄🦮🐓

Faith is home, surgery went great. The sutures will dissolve on their own, the vet added glue over the sutures to help prevent her from pulling the sutures out. I have clipped her nails, something that I normally would never recommend but I did it so she would not scratch her eye area because it will itch with healing. She's feeling good right now, just eagerly had diluted formula and enjoying a nut.
Meet Faith, she's heading to surgery and having an infected eye removed at Fenton River Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Brown is doing the surgery today at 2:00 pm. Faith could use prayers and positive thought. The anesthesia is always the scariest part for me. She has been in the care of the Squirrels and More Rehab facility since around the 22nd of August.
