Update on arrangements for Joey:
(Feel free to share)
Wednesday, 2pm, on our farm:
1405 Bromley Ridge Rd, Fort Gay, WV 25514
One of the many reasons I believe Joey actually knew, is he let us know all of the details involved in the chance of his passing.
He specifically wanted:
- no traditional funeral, only a small graveside service
- No open casket - so, it will be closed.
- And, the biggest part:
He wanted to be buried on the farm, in a very specific location.
So, even if Joey was prepared for his own moving on, we certainly were not.
Our family, my dad, Joey’s uncles, cousins, brothers etc have been doing a lot of renovating on the farm, as it was in a bit of disrepair.
However! Though Dad and I had blinders and weren’t bothered by everything, Joey always wanted to clean up the farm when he came back.
So Dad said “Well, he’s finally getting that done. He came back, and we’re cleaning up the farm.” ❤️
So, please forgive us for the out of the way location and any construction and messiness you see. The family has made a new farm road (up a very steep hill) to the place Joey requested to rest his spirit’s earthly vessel.
The field is bush-hogged for parking.
They’ve cleared trees, fences, mowed, weedeated, hauled in gravel and dirt, dug out his chosen place, and so much more.
It will be a small, simple service, and a very small venue.
We’ll play or sing a few of Joey’s favorite songs/hymns to anyone who wished to join in.
It is, though, very welcome and completely open to all who knew and loved Joey.
We all want everyone to be able to share with one another the love and appreciation they had for the knowing of, and amount of time they were given with, my brother.
Feel free to bring flowers or pictures or whatever.
Personally I would love to see any pictures of Joey that everyone has. So, if it weren’t a bother, feel free to bring them, or to post them on my or his Facebook wall so we can all have joy in them.
Also, the outpouring of love, condolences, and prayer has been so immense - Joey apparently had more friends than the rest of the family combined!
I know no one “expects” a reply, but I truly wish I can, and will try.
Thank you, with Love,
- Joshua
