Here at Ckhammies we have had PURE CAMPBELL Dwarfs since 2004. Our foundation stock came from AAA Hamstery (Linda Price). We have not posted much about them because we have bred them for temperament all along, with breed standards in mind and just sold them in the pet market. We have all black eyed variations. In October we found a breeder in Utah who also had foundation stock from AAA Hamstery. both of us had not brought any new stock into our hamstery for over 4 yrs due to too many hybrid Campbells. (Not that we are against hybrids, it is something we chose not to do. And at one time we had Winter Whites) In bringing in new stock we did gain some new genetics for us. We got the mottled and satin genes and obtained a pair of Red Eyed Argents.

We finally took pictures of our Campbells to share with everyone. If anyone is interested please contact us.

This is a good friend. What is not mentioned is her husband just had a kidney transplant about 4 months ago. I don't know how much any family can take. Anything anyone can donate will help this family. Also please share this.

She was admitted to a Fresno hospital and as of this posting she has had 2 chemo treatments and getting ready for her third this next week. She is suffering a cancer flap on her stomach area over her colon so she can not eat and...

These are the kinds of things we don't feel compelled to share because if you want to be sad turn on your local news. We feel the need to share Monte's story in hope we all can learn from him.

Monte is a short hair cinnamon male we got from Petsmart here in Bakersfield six months ago. He has excellent color that can't be captured in photos. He had a great temperament loved to be picked up and loved to get his girlfriend time.

This last group of breedings, a week ago, we noticed Monte starting to act "different" but just thought he was excited for his girl time. He did breed and female is due in a week. The next day we noticed Monte running in circles. Not tight circles but about a 10in circle in the middle of his pen. We have never seen this in our Syrians. We immediately put him in a large bin with a wheel, hoping he was just bored and was one that just decided he needed room. Not the case he still ran his circles. He ran on his wheel a little. Didn't seem interested in making a bed when given extra tissue. He was eating and drinking but not like normal...his running was more important. His temperament seemed to change over night to where he didn't want to be touched. When he was touch he seemed like he was in pain.

Tuesday we decided to take him to the vet. After a ong discussions of what possibly was wrong. I thought inner ear infection but doctor ruled it out saying he would be scratching at his ear and have a head tilt. Upon exam he noticed sores on all his feet that were fresh and he thought he might be starting self mutilation. The whole way to vet and in waiting room he curled up in corner on his back and cried. We felt it was in his best interest to be PTS.

When we as breeders see these kind of issues this is what we need to share. Vet suggested breeding him again that maybe it was hormones. As a responsible breeder I declined to do this. All the hamster world needs are hamsters that turn mean between 7 and 8 months of age. Good part is we only have this one litter coming up from him, which we will highly document and follow. Most likely wont keep anything from it.

RIP my little guy mommy loves you and misses you.

We officially sold our last rats today. The demand for them diminished and we did not want to contribute to any rats ending up in shelters. If you are looking for one, I can forward you to another breeder.

This is "Glamour" a pet store hamster from Los Banos, CA. We are not sure of her color but believe she is a Silver Gray Tort. We would everyone to comment what color they believe she is. We bred her to our male.."Steve" who is a Dingy or Silver Black Long Hair. She had babies 5/29. Feel free to comment what colors you think she may have. Also follow us to see what colors she does have.
