Some work in progress pictures of my recent commission - Beautiful Daisy, a Golden Retriever! 💛🐾 A bigger piece at 50x70cm, so was great to be able to get as many details in as possible! 😍

Couldn’t think of a drawing more fitting for St.Davids day, and the day after a leap year than two leaping lambs to get us all bouncing into spring! 🐑🐑 I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a warm sunny spring! 🌞🌞

My finished piece of the beautiful Coco! 🐾

What a stunning dog! 😍 Loved all the undertones in her fur, from blues, purples and even some greens! These undertones help pull out her features and the textures of her fur ❤️ I'm super happy with how she looks! 😍 And it goes to show even smaller pieces can pack in a lot of detail!

✨Another colour post!✨

Here I'm showing the colours that I like to grab when drawing golden coloured dogs, such as Murphy the Field Retriever and Jax the Cocker Spaniel. 🐾

I love being able to play with colours and blend them into the drawings to bring out certain shadows, highlights and undertones!

Balancing colours is a big part of creating a beautiful and accurate portrait!

I love colour theory - the science and art of using and mixing colour!

Here are some of the colours on white Parsons terrier Archie, that you might not expect to see being used!

Often get asked if it's possible to draw white or black animals - and the answer is always yes as they always have coloured undertones which makes them pop! Even on black or white paper 🖤🤍

Will post another portrait tomorrow showing some unusual colours used in a portrait for a different coloured pooch 🐾

Jax finished and mounted! 😍✨ Having two Spaniels at home gives me a slightly biased opinion but they're such beautiful dogs! ❤️ I will say that Jax has nailed those spaniel puppy eyes don't you think? He'll be a hard pup to say no to! ❤🥹
