Nothing super pretty to look at yet but this is a super tough movement for Savvy at the moment. We’re working super hard to build his hind quarters and topline and every challenge I throw at him he’s there waiting for the next one. What a good man

The Ultra Wide lens makes Bandit look ultra weird hahahah. Trying to get our lie down going properly, few speed bumps but it’s apart if it
I do a lot of body work and I see a lot of horses with HUGE Hamstring Muscle groups with no Hindquarters or Top Line. Why is this? Well it pretty much means you aren’t working your horses whole hind end and only small groups. Ways to work the rest are exercises like- Long and Low- Poles/Cavaletti - Grid Work- Swimming - Up/Down Hills - Transitions - Backing Up Hills We want your horse to lift through their back and power forwards with their hind end. Once your horse starts to work their whole body you’ll notice a considerable change in their general performance, behaviour as well as looks. Start to look at your horses and read what their body is telling you.
My step father has always been someone that pushes me to be a better rider even know he doesn’t come from a horsey background. I went out to do some XC with him and he pointed out this jump, said I could do it, really built me up. Cantering a circle before this jump I felt like I was going to throw up and cry, I felt like 10yo me jumping 60cm for the first time and having a panic attack. This 70cm log, a height I used to warm up over made me almost say no but I had an honest horse and someone to tell me it would be okay. I did it and as soon as I did I took a deep breathe and wondered what all the stress was about. It was a huge step in in the right direction ☺️😁
This one hurts a little bit to make. To those who don’t know in 2017 I had a severe riding accident, I had a horse rear, flip and crush me. I stopped breathing for a bit, had a shattered pelvis, fractured back, internal bleeding in my liver, kidneys, bladder and brain trauma (memory loss and speech impediment). I’ve recently started documenting my challenges getting back into riding properly, especially jumping. If you’d like to follow my Journey please feel free to, I’m going to be open about my story so hopefully I can help others.
My first ride on Savvy at home, teeth are done, saddles sorted, new girth (extra long one 😬) and trying a different bit. The good man has started looking for contact and lifting up through the back. While he’s building muscle I can’t expect long moments of this just small ones for now. Falling in love already 🥰 very happy
