Chet is one of our amazing special needs kitties. Chet is a very special fellow. Literally. Chet had an interesting start to life. Him and his littermates were surrendered to ER vet services as young kittens. Chet was the most concerning of the group as it appeared he had difficulty walking with is back legs. Taking them, we started physical therapy with Chet. Once older he saw a vet who specializes in neurology. His x rays and physical exam showed nothing of major concern that prohibits him from finding a wonderful home. Chet will require a home that is single level with carpet or at the very least large area rugs for traction for his back legs. He doesn't appear to have CH and his instability most likely stems from his spinal column, either caused in utero or injury. Chet gets around fine, walks with a sway and when he gets excited, he will army crawl his heart’s content out. He climbs on any and everything he can. He has figured out how to back down most things safely. Chet really is a sweet guy who would make anyone happy. He loves love. He'd sit there all day and let you pet him if you wanted to. Chet has a very strong personality and would not do well with another dominating personality. Another important FYI about Chet, sometimes he has instability while in the cat box doing his business. He's gotten better as the older he gets to figure out his proper stance, so he doesn’t fall back while doing the deed. Occasionally, you may just want to check his behind to make sure he isn’t trying to paint your carpet brown! He does best with a box with a lid or at least very high sides. He wouldn't do well as an only cat as he is extremely social. He loves his kitty roommates. Temperament around dogs is unknown. A slow introduction is recommended. He has been around elementary and high school age children.
