Another thing to note: People should also stop demanding from animal shelters to take in homeless people with animals as caretakers. Not every homeless person with a dog or cat is an animal lover. Some are using them to gain sympathy or scam people. If you have the capacity to help them or share food with them, please do it.

There is DSWD which is a government organization that you may also try to contact should you see one but there is no certainty they can accommodate. Shelters in the Philippines are non profit and have barely enough funds to sustain the animals. We always always get messages from people asking us to accommodate homeless people with animals. Taking in a human being is a big big responsibility because humans have needs too. Who will pay for their needs and bills when they get sick? What will shelters do when they actually are not good people and will hurt the rescues? There are lots of good and genuine ones deserving of help, but not everyone is who they seem to be.

Also, would you ever let a stranger stay inside your house and trust them to be around and take care of your family? Your pets? If companies do background checks when hiring employees, NGOs like us no longer have the time and resources to check the background and history of a homeless stranger. We have living beings under our care, rescues, not computers. Their safety and well being will always be our top priority.
