National Hug Day! 💜🦄

For Day 21 of the with i struggled to choose as my phone is FULL of pics of Al getting cuddles !!

These are my highlight Hugs -
Pic 1- our first ever Area Festivals and it was just the best feeling ever!
Pic 2- after our first day at Senior Inter Regionals, our first ever stay away comp that we travelled to all on our own! Just felt the biggest bonding weekend!!
Pic 3- well of course Dixie couldn’t be left out ! Sharing my love for Al with my mini me is just the best! She is always so proud of him and adores him - I’m scared for the day she steels my ride 😂

Fantastic facilities at Toad Hall Farm Equine Rehabilitation & Performance - Al absolutely loved his first session. Can’t wait to see how this aids his training. Thank you so much to the lovely team at Toad Hall.

Highly recommend and will be sharing our experience later! 🦄💙

Let’s ride Shoulder In for the Judges 😬

Big Al loves the lateral work so much that he gives a lot more than is required so we’ve always worked on ‘less is more’ to try and get the quality up.

This was the first time we have ridden the Shoulder in for judges in our recent Elementary 5 test and we scored 7 for this movement! Really happy with that! A firm starting point!!

Super excited with the professional photos of our first attempt of Elementary 5 and our first ever leg yield pic!🦄

When I finally get some time to go through the footage I will share it but for now huge thanks to for getting those angles 😂🥰🦄

Low scoring due to silly mistakes in the canter work and minor pilot error thinking 2.5m was 5m so our loops were badddd 😂 but we still managed to place 1st ♥️🏵️

I have come away from this first attempt buzzing to go again and desperate to ride that test on repeat!!

Day 6 of - Selfie with your horse!

Obviously I have way too many of these but I had to choose my most memorable so here we have our selfie after just pulling up to the Senior Interest Regionals riding on behalf of our amazing South & East region!

Day 2 of and this one is a cute one!!

I was lucky enough to have grown up around horses from the moment I graced this earth!! The fact I could ride before I could walk pretty much sums me up!!

The cutest thing about this post - swipe to pic 2 - this little shetty taught me to ride all those many moons ago and now I get to do it all over again with my little girl!! Daisy was born on my family farm and is literally part of the furniture!!

A full circle for me but it’s truly the best way to share my hobby with my best friend Dixie 💜

I thought I’d join in with the as it’s been a while since I introduced ourselves!!

I’m Abbie and this is Big Al! I’m a horse obsessed mum of 2 from East Sussex!
I’m luckily enough to keep Big Al and a few collection ponies at my family farm.
2024 was our first year of BD and we well and truely tried the lot! Amazingly we were selected to ride for our county and our region at the Inter counties challenge and the Senior Inter regionals. These were so much fun and I prey we can join the fun again this year.
We gave our shot at area festivals and opened our eyes to this whole amazing BD world and the opportunities that come along the way!

I’m aiming to do some more camps this year and really focus on our arena confidence! We need the experience to start helping us with this !! For 2025 we are aiming at novice regionals and elementary petplans (can’t believe I just said that out loud!)

I couldn’t achieve any of this without the most amazing support team who I’m eternally grateful for! You’re all tagged and appreciated so much!!

Above all I hope for a happy and healthy 2025 for Big Al and everyone around us! Want to know any more fire away!

🩶 Misty hacks 🩶

That’s been the last few days of riding for us!! Lots of cold misty hacks, we took to the fields today for a good gallop but it’s very slippy underfoot so had to be a bit reserved!

I just love this lull between Xmas and new year when you can just chill and have some fun!

We had the most awesome lesson today!!

Sadly no one was about to film but we did some really cool stuff and I learnt a LOT!! Huge thanks to my amazing coach .mcgurk.1 for keeping us on the right path.

Rides like this give me so much buzz and determination, I just absolutely love this journey with Big Al and have to thank him for so so much, my best bud 🩶

2025 has got some major goals! 🙌

After a few weeks out the saddle due to me being unwell we were straight back to it with a fun filled photoshoot with !

This was such a good feeling today!! 2 weeks out of the saddle - I think that’s illegal in my book 😂

We have an exciting morning planned tomorrow- going to be interesting seeing as I’ve not ridden in so long and Al looks like a feral horse !!
