We are in desperate need of puppy pads, puppy food, and gloves for messy, messy puppy cleanup! Thanks to Hattie and ButterNUT we have gone through HUNDREDS of puppy pads, lotsa food, and mounds of boxes of gloves because...well, they're sloppy potty pups (don't get me started on paper towels and trash bags, oh my!). It's a bit crazy, but true! Otherwise they are happy, best buds, sugar sweet, and doing well. ButterNUT is up to 25lbs already! She's still a widdle baby in our book, though. ❤ Hattie is just a big pup, being an Anatolian Shepherd and all, but still gaining weight. Fun Fact: ButterNUT's bark is bigger than hers...not sure how, but poor Hattie got a wimpy voice. Maybe it will change in the teenage years, like Peter Brady's did. 😉

AH! It's been WAY too long since a post, and I am so, so sorry! To say the least, I'm currently a bit over consumed in school, work, and k9.5, so I don't realize how time flies by. But we are still here and putt-putting through the day...house training, doc visits, so on and so forth. 😁 But here are some updates:
1️⃣ ButterNUT saw the surgeon. Her tibia/fibula have already started healing and should, believe it or not, mold back to a normal bone. Sorta cool. Her hip, on the other hand, isn't as accommodating. Surgery isn't recommended right now, but instead we will recheck her at 6mths old to see what it looks like and make a determination for surgery. She'll still need it, but it's just a matter of the best time. Meanwhile, we FINALLY got rid of her roundworms, and she's now out and about, showing the big dogs what fun is all about. Hattie is her guardian.
2️⃣ George has been urinating a lot. A LOT. We've done bloodwork and some tests, and we're going to try a medication to see if it helps. If not, it's most likely Psychogenic polydipsia, meaning it's in his head. I'm up exactly 3x a night to let him out. But he is so kind in asking...he comes to the side of the bed and gives me a very gentle boop until I wake up. ❤️ Then he makes his wobbly way to the door, "zooms" out and "zooms" back in. We shall see what the meds do, if anything.
3️⃣ Hattie...She remains incredibly gentle and sweet, but poor girl is struggling with separation anxiety pretty badly. She's to the point of being destructive and crying, so we're trying to help her understand it will all turn out okay. She's also still learning to potty outside, and that's been slow b/c she doesn't want to go out w/o foster mama. 💔 Just keep her in your thoughts and prayers because she's a darling girl who is just confused. We want her to feel good, not anxious.
💖So we've gone through lots of towels, cleaning, and potty pads between the two youngsters, but hopefully we're making progress. That little ButterNUT is a comical girl, though. Smart, too! Once we get her past her play biting, she'll be pretty perfect. She also has the cutest feet in the world. FAT WIDDLE PUPPY TOES!!!! 😍

Guess who got adopted??? Miss Mimi!!! She now is the little sister of a k9.5 alumni who some of you may remember - Sir Stewart! She is now known as Meggie, and I can't even begin to tell you how happy she is in her new home...I mean, over the top thrilled! They adore her, and she adores everything about her new life. She even has her own boy that she promptly wakes up every morning at the proper time and snuggles close to when she needs to rest from playing too hard. She is in total heaven, and we couldn't be more thrilled for her. 🧡Congrats on your new life, beautiful girl! You deserve it!

Hattie...what we've learned about her since she's arrived to rescue:

🧲Hattie is a magnet to her foster mother. Not a shadow, but a magnet. Her people are important to her.
🩻 She had two types of intestinal parasites - hookworms and giardia. Tomorrow we'll retest to see if we've gotten rid of them all.
🐾 She loves dogs and would be soooo lonely without them. She has been teaching the puppy, ButterNUT, the ins and outs, and being a super duper big sister - gentle yet mindful that she needs to guide her.
🥺 Hattie misses you desperately you when you're gone, crying, pacing, and ultimately laying in front of the door until you return. 🧡
😁 She is SO happy when you return! 😍🥳
💪 She can break out of a crate, but she has behaved thus far in the house when you're not at home.
🧠 Hattie is very intuitive and intelligent.
🧱 She's also as dense as a brick. 😉
🐭She's still coming into her bark. It's a little...wimpy at the moment, but she's young so that will change into 🦁 loud!

UPDATE: Miss ButterNUT is doing well and as cute as ever. We’ve learned from the surgeons that her leg fractures (tibia and fibula) have already started healing, so there’s nothing that can be done ar this point. We’ll see what that means for her future, for we do have an appointment next week to review the hip ball/joint with the surgeon regarding an FHO ( Femoral Head Ostectomy). We look forward to learning more from the doc. Here she is…Miss Ameeericaaaa!!!! a.k.a. ButterNUT! This sweet little bundle of happy puppy never suggests she’s so terribly injured b/c of her incredible attitude. ❤️ But, what we learned is that this 16.4lb baby has a broken tibia, fibula, and ball of the hip joint. 😢 We are waiting to see what the surgeon says and what options are available for her. Meanwhile she is a good little girl who loves dogs, loves to snuggle, gives great hugs, and holds on to you with her fat little paws. She also gives amazing kisses and takes treats very gently. 💕 And she likes to jam to Bebe Winans (sound is up only bc was playing on phone…but you jam, too!). Oh, she’s also CUTE!!! 😍 We will let you know what the surgeon says, but she’s a love for sure and eeeeek! we can’t 😘😘😘 that face enough!!!

This 3mth old, 14lb baby has a broken tibia and a dislocated hip. *Three. Months. Old.*
I am haunted by her pain.

We will help her, but we need it to be a joint effort. It will be a long, expensive road, but it's not hopeless. Not at all.
Would you be willing to join us in saving her and giving her the life she so deserves?

We're not asking for anything right now; just a pledge. An pledge for whatever you can give and honor in a few weeks.
Could you also help us gather other funds? Friends, family, the office, your own fundraiser...whatever you can think of to help this little bitty one. She needs us.

We will help her, but we need it to be a joint effort. Please look at her and imagine the excruciating pain of a bone broken in two and a hip nowhere near its socket.
