The holidays are coming up and so are holiday decorations! Make sure to keep your pet safe with these simple tips:

-Don’t use real candles. Use LED candles to prevent your pet knocking over a lit flame.
-Anchor your tree.
-Use a fake tree rather than a real tree.
-Consider using a gate around the tree. This can prevent your dog or cat from getting to the tree, ornaments and presents.
-Keep holiday decorations out of reach.
-Keep your pet away from the food and drinks. Not all human food is safe for your pets.
-Keep an eye on your pet while they are outside if you use any extension cords for your outdoor lights that may be within your pets reach."

Ingredients:

2-3 sweet potatoes

Directions:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Wash and dry sweet potatoes and thinly slice lengthwise. Place directly on baking sheet and bake for 3 hours, flipping halfway through. The sweet potatoes should be chewy and dry. Let cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

After your pet has been outside, if their paws are wet, make sure to dry them. Use a wet washcloth to clean your pet’s paws and belly to clean off any snow, salt or possible chemicals. Be sure to put extra care into their paw pads and between the toes. Using coconut oil or another paw protectant on their paw pads before sending them outside can also add an extra layer of protection.

Your pup will love this dog friendly version of the classic fall treat, the pumpkin spice latte! This latte is the perfect treat for your pup to enjoy on a gorgeous fall day.

Ingredients:

1 ¼ cup full fat coconut milk
1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
Dash of ground cinnamon
Dash of ground ginger

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together except ¼ cup coconut milk. After fully blended, serve in a small plastic cup and top with coconut milk. Store any extra latte in the fridge for up to 3 days. Let your dog enjoy their pumpkin spice treat!

Choosing the right animal for your family may have been an easy task, but choosing a name can be tricky. Here are some useful tips on how to choose a name for your new pet:

-Pick a name that is short and sweet. Your pet will be more likely to recognize their own name if you choose a name with one or two syllables.
-Avoid names that sound close to a command. For example, the name ‘Bo’ sounds close to ‘No’ and could confuse your pet.
-Wait a few days to study your new pet’s behavior before choosing a name. Once you get to know your pet’s personality, a name may come easier.
-Pick a name that will grow well with your pet. Choose a name that will be a good fit as your pet ages.

Acting in what they think is the best interest of their pet, many owners don’t realize that for many breeds, a haircut should often be the “road less traveled”.

Ingredients:

2 1/3 cups whole wheat flour divided
1 tsp baking powder
1 small apple, cored and grated
1/2 cup pumpkin puree NOT pumpkin pie filling
1 large egg

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Whisk together 2 cups of the flour and baking powder. Add in the grated apple, pumpkin, egg, and water and stir until all the dry ingredients are moistened. The batter will be fairly thick. If your mixture is still sticking, sprinkle your counter with the remaining 1/3-cup of white whole wheat flour, and knead it into your dough until no longer sticky.
3. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface and use a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes. Transfer to the prepared baking sheets.
4. Bake for about 30 minutes or until crisp. Cool completely on a wire rack before sharing with your pup or storing in an airtight container.
