When you take in a pig who “hasn’t ever mounted any of the females” 🤦🏻‍♀️ Apparently he doesn’t like his own kind (Kunekune) and he goes for those sexy big bellied mini pigs 😉🤣

When he settles down…. I am going to braid the hair on Moe’s tail 😆

Just thought everyone would like to hear these piggies squealing like as if they hadn’t eaten in days. This is the noise they make every single feeding time They also make this noise when it isn’t feeding time. Big Red is a massive instigator of this behaviour. The Kunekune’s always join in.

Now that you have heard them squealing for food, what will you feed them? 😆

Who has his human’s trained? This fella. Daily feeding is bugs in the evening. He has learned to squeak at us when he knows someone is near, so that he gets extra bugs. He seeks us out one by one and feasts. I often wonder if he can tell us apart and he targets us one by one. Some days I think I am giving him an early treat, then J says he fed him and Steven says he fed him too. After I have fed him, he doesn’t squeak at me anymore. He may be smarter than we think. All I know is that he is cuter than he should be 🦔

Ugh. I have been so unwell lately. After a couple days at the ER, lots of rest and then a week of appts… I feel more tired than I ever have. My back is always sore. I can’t sleep. Alopecia is taking over. Medication makes me feel worse. My legs are swelling horribly. I could just put on a snow suit and sleep with the pigs for the next year. If I identify as a pig, can I be a freeloader like a pig 😜

It’s time to let the pets take care of me. Winter is a great time to snuggle up and relax

We did an animal exchange on Sunday while in Quesnel. We took a cute bunny down to his new home. He was adorable! We picked up this hedgie from a different family. He is the newest critter to join our family. His name was Ricky. I dated a Ricky, so that name has to go! 😬😂 Our other hedgehog is named Grumpy Balls because he came to us angry and ever so grumpy. That and we have tweenage sons who can’t stop talking about balls 🤪🤣 This fella was a bit grumpy too, until he realized he could watch the hockey game and meet all the kids passing by at the hockey rink. He seemed to enjoy popping his head out to greet everyone. He really is a very charming lil guy.

Please excuse his messy face, he was just dining on juicy bugs. Moms always share the most embarrassing pictures of their children anyway, right?!

We were supposed to pick up Charlotte, our soon to be addition to the pig herd. Plans changed and she will come down next week in a livestock trailer. Imagine that, a pig who rides in a trailer and not in the vehicle on your lap?! 😜 I cannot wait to meet her!

Yesterday we did a day trip to Quesnel for my kiddos hockey. In the morning as we were rushing to get going, I saw Cheerio’s tail under the shelf in the kitchen. I thought she was smart to have found a new hiding spot where no one would bother her. (Me and my stupid positivity 🙄) We left for the day and returned around 7:30 pm. I noticed her head sticking out from under that same area. She was extremely dehydrated and not doing well. I picked her up and set her on the counter. Her back legs were stiff and straight, she couldn’t stand. She urinated while I was holding her.

After much scrambling, we did the vet triage thing, (which I feel is a waste of money and time when your baby is suffering and dying) We took her to the on call emergency vet. We chose to do radiographs, and bloodwork, to find out that she was too far into kidney failure. We made the choice to left her go. The vet didn’t think she would survive if we were to treat her.

I learned that lilies are common in making cats sick and causing the kidneys to shut down. I am thankful we do not have lilies in our home.

If your cat all of a sudden disappears or finds a new hiding spot, check on them. I wish I had checked on her in the morning. Maybe she would still be alive.

Emergency fee is $175 for the vet. The vet did the radiographs. I am curious about why they have to charge another $175 fee for the vet tech to come in to do the bloodwork 🤷🏻‍♀️ Why can’t the vet do it?

We took our Cheers out to PG Pet Memorial Park today for private cremation and a paw print. That was another $180. We have spent a lot of time out there talking with Jim and Shelly. It feels like we are visiting friends because we have been there so much. They are really are nice people. They have a large amount of pets ashes there that haven’t been picked up. Please, go pay your bill and pick them up. Ask a family member to pay for it as a Christmas gift. Your babies that you once loved, they would love nothing more than to be home with you.

It’s been a rough year after losing Rupert(pig), Floria(skinny pig), Tater(pig), Snowy(cat), Chimichanga(Guinea pig), 3 kittens we fostered from the SPCA and now Cheers. The loss is excessive when you choose to rescue. So is the vet bills. Most importantly, the love is what matters.

This is why I recommend everyone get a mini pig as a pet. They can live for 20 years 😉

I forgot to share this last week. That’s Moe in the van. Mowgli and Red were here wondering if he was getting treats because we had a big donation of food that I kept in the back of the van for weeks. I would open the back and spread the food around. Mowgs and Big Red do not ever miss out on anything 😆

These freeloaders! There were zero cats on the couch. I sat down in the corner of the sectional with my book, talked to Daisy (our Great Dane) for a second and went to reach for my brand new soft blue blanket… and 💥 these two beat me to it. Where did they even come from? Momma can’t take her blanket from the kitties, I guess I will do without. To make matters worse, I just sat in a wet slobber spot that Daisy drooled. Ah… life with fur babies ❤️

Last check on Moe before I go to bed. He was tucked in between Kohkos and Petunia. He is doing well. I am grateful he didn’t have his surgery weeks ago when it was -18 degrees. I can sleep well tonight knowing it’s warmer and the other piggies will help keep him warm.

Moe did well with his surgery and came home still rather d***y from the sedation. He didn’t want to come out of the van, so Big Red went up the ramp to greet him a couple times. We eventually went inside the house and let Moe rest. He came out on his own and went straight to bed.

Merry Christmas to me. $596 later, Moe is castrated, had his hooves trimmed up, trimmed those wicked tusks he keeps trying to scratch me with, and was dewormed. 🐽 ❤️

Now that he is taken care of…. We have a new intake coming on Sunday. I can’t wait to fall in love with her too 😍

We woke up early, way too early 🥱 Moe was booked in at 9am for his second attempt castration. Luckily, he walked right up the ramp and hopped into the van. We were at the vet before 8:30, begging them to take him in before he had the chance to break my back window. Luckily, he stopped jumping up and my window is still in one piece. It was super funny when I opened the back door on my minivan and Moe sprung out 😂 Let’s face it, a dog crate or wire crate wouldn’t hold him. He is strong. All pigs are strong. Moe isn’t the “sit back and enjoy the ride” kinda dude. He is the “create total chaos without any consequences” fella. Pigs like Moe make having a small livestock trailer necessary. This pig momma is pig broke (see what I did there 😉) so trashing the minivan is how we roll! Either I am seriously a dummy, or I just love pigs that much. Maybe it’s both. The pigs could burn my house down and I would still love them 🤣

We don’t stop at pigs. We have many other critters who needed a forever home. This is Salt and his buddy is named Pepper. Gerbils are so curious and friendly. I wonder what Salt would do if he actually escaped his home

03/12/2024

This is what it’s like going out our door. Every. Single. Time.

I can’t get to the hockey rink without running the gauntlet of dirty pig snouts 😜 I have resorted to permanently wearing Tickled Pig hoodies so that people can understand why my pants are always dirty 😂

It started to rain, and Ellie was not happy. She complained all the way back to bed 🤣

Amazon delivery. The driver left the package balanced on the fence where he usually leaves them. Some… big turd rattles the gate until the package falls down to him. Betcha can’t guess who it is 🤪😂
