Throwback to when there were only 2 little pigs

Kohkos was a purchased pet who would open my eyes to a reality I knew nothing about.

Tater Tott came from a unwell situation where pigs were dying. He had health issues his whole life and lived with chronic pain. Tater was with us for 6 years until his pain wasn’t manageable anymore and we had to make the compassionate decision to relieve him from his pain. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t miss my first little boy.

We have kittens 🐈‍⬛

But really, who doesn’t?!

Princess, one of two cat’s that were left behind at the rental unit we just renovated, had 4 babies. The babies are now with us. Princess (Momma cat) has the best home any kitty could ask for, leaving the kittens in need of loving home’s.

Do you have any interest in a kitten? Or two?

It will be absolutely mandatory that they are spayed or neutered.

They are rambunctious terrors that will melt your heart.

We would keep them all if we could afford to, but we also do not need 13 cats. Someone please tell my teenager that we are not keeping them all 😂😂

It has been a hard couple weeks. We lost our rabbit Bunbun’s and our rat Cheese. We take in so many small animals, it is rare for any to ever make it to old age. Prey animals hide feeling unwell. By the time you realize, they are often too sick to save.

In the spring, we lost Grumpy, a hedgehog who did reach old age. He was so slow and couldn’t catch his superworms anymore. I hand fed him for months, as his world slowed down.

Every time we lose an animal, I say I am not doing this anymore. Everyone agrees that we don’t need anymore animals. When the next critter comes along, being rehomed, and no one wants it, I always open our home. Every animal deserves love. Once here, they will have their forever home. In many cases, these animals have been rehomed multiple times and we have no idea how much longer they have.
Whether it’s a month or 5 years, they are loved.

The newest addition to our sanctuary. These gorgeous fella’s are hilarious. They follow us around, they try to join the kids waiting for the school bus in the morning, they are always in everyone else’s business. I love every single noise they make.

Last post I said their names are Joey and Chandler. I had a brain fart. Our rescue ducks are Joey & Chandler, the one rooster is Ross. These turkies are Bert & Ernie.

Yesterday Rosie was at UNBC meeting everyone who took time out of their day to give her some love. She clearly was SPOILED. With endless food and belly rubs, it was every pigs dream come true!

Steven and I enjoyed our time there as much as Rosie did. So many happy, friendly faces to chat with, many of whom we met last year. It was pleasure to spend time talking about pigs. Thank you Madi for the invite and thank you to staff, students and visitors for making this such an amazing experience.

If you deliver apples, please let me know you are coming by. That board was put in place of where the pigs broke through the fence at the front gate. Apples outside of the yard must taste better than apples inside the yard
