Hello Hoppers!
It's Harvest Time for 2021 @ Social Hops!!

It's been a socially quiet year for Social Hops what with all the restrictions and such, but it's now HARVEST TIME!!

Rascals would love to see you all at the Brewery on 18th September with your fresh hops for this year's brew 🍻

Rascals will need all the hops ready to be put into the kettle by 2pm.

So can all the Social Hops growers come to Rascals between 11:30am and 1:30pm on Sept 18th with their hops already pre-picked from the vines in cardboard or paperbags or alternatively they can pick them off the vines here with the other hoppers.

If Saturday doesn't suit people, they can drop the pre-picked hops into Rascals at any time on the Friday 17th September and they will be put straight into the cold room for use the next day.

Rascals will likely do a Red Ale with all of this years freshly harvested hops and the beer will be ready on the week commencing 4th October 2021🍺

Emails will be sent out with full details 👍🍻

This weekend we launched our new grow your own initiative with Blessington Educate Together National School!

Every student in the school will receive a bare root strawberry, raspberry & blueberry plant, apple or pear tree & seeds.

Books from GIY have also been provided for each class!

This project was possible following our receiving of a Wicklow County Council community award grant in 2020.

Special thanks as well to Blessington Lakes Garden Centre for their donation of peat free compost, and Blessington Educate Together National School for their incredible support!

Our campaign has always called out the numerous benefits from communities and families learning to grow their own, even more important now during COVID.

We continue to campaign and seek land in Blessington to provide families & the local community a space to grow together!

BOOKING ESSENTIAL: Many hands make light work. Fancy a day on a farm working with great people in return for lunch and a small bit of veg??? We are holding a meitheal weekend SEPTEMBER 19th &20th. We are looking for volunteers to come and help us out for one or two days. If you come for two days you are welcome to camp overnight for free.

We are hoping to prepare our garden for winter and harvest our potatoes and basically spruce the place up. There will be a range of jobs from hauling manure to make compost, to cleaning the polytunnel, weeding etc... it's a good old day of work and not for the faint hearted. So dig out the wellies, dust off the gloves and join us out in nature for a day.

Due to covid restrictions we are limited to 15 people each day so we are asking people to book. Please do not just turn up.

To book simply send me a private message on Instagram or email me on [email protected].
