1. A moment of pride as I noticed he chose to “down/stay” on his own while I pulled product from shelf during a shopping trip.

2. He returned my humility to me at checkout when I caught him trying to pilfer the Reese’s.

I was recently asked what my favorite breeds are so here you go. There are my top 5 favorite breeds in no pa...

Most everywhere in the good ole’ US of A there are leash laws outside of regulated dog parks. If you have access to the internet you’ve no doubt come across plenty opinions stressing that you should never have your dog off of its leash outside of your property for any reason because of this or t...

HISTORY LESSON Training the family dog was largely the husband’s realm before the 90s when the majority of dogs were kept outdoors or owned for work or sport. Being kept outdoors they would often fall under the “man take care of outside” gender role that went along with taking out the trash an...

I hold nothing back in sharing my feelings about bringing home 2 puppies at once in this week’s blog post.

I hold nothing back in sharing my feelings about bringing home 2 puppies at once in this week’s blog post.

I’ve never, not once, observed a household in which two puppies introduced simultaneously resulted in a positive outcome. Every time I hear of two puppies being sold to complete novices I become enraged by the greed of the seller and the unfounded optimism of the buyer. I can’t think of any buye...

My latest blog as you consider what to do about that Christmas Puppy.

You might be feeling overwhelmed by the puppy or young dog you’ve acquired and are ready to throw in the towel and send him away for obedience training. You are wondering if it’s the right thing to do and you’re fantasizing about the results. In 2 weeks (or longer in some cases) the dog of you...

🌞 FOSTER NEEDED: Mr. Banjo

Hi Cocker Spaniel friends,

Please read Mr. Banjo's bio and consider helping him on his journey to a forever home. As a reminder, DFWCSR will pay for a foster dog's medical care.

🐾 Mr. Banjo is looking for a new foster home. His current foster is extremely busy and thinks Mr. Banjo would do better in a home that could give him more time for training. He is 10 years old, with the energy and behaviors of a puppy. He is affectionate and sweet and gets along with both dogs and cats.

Mr. Banjo is looking for someone to help manage or train his separation anxiety, getting into things he shouldn't, and being told “no”. His current foster has written an extensive bio, so if you are interested in helping him, we can provide more details.

If you would like to foster Mr. Banjo or have any other questions, my email is [email protected].

If you would like to foster but you’re not yet an approved foster, please submit a foster/adoption application, found on our website here: https://dfwcockerrescue.org/adoption-process/
