After over an entire YEAR in foster care (and arriving to another shelter as a tiny baby), our favorite firey lion Shaka has been adopted and finally has the home and family that he has never had before!!
Congrats Shaka! Be nice!
K&R Small Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit small critter rescue located in the Fox Valley of WI. At this time we do not accept ferrets.
(20)
K&R Started in 2009 with the rescue of one small guinea pig and grew into an organization with dozens of foster homes that has helped save the lives of around 1000 animals in the first 6 years! We are a non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible. We currently accept rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, hedgehogs, degus, tortoises, chinchillas, degus, sugar gliders and some re
ptiles. We are looking for foster families that will assist with rats and mice. All of our animals are kept in foster homes, and all rabbits are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application on our website and we will set up a time for you to meet any of the animals you are interested in! K&R does NOT have a facility open to the public as all adoptables are kept in one of our 15-20 foster families in Wisconsin. Please check out our website for more information or send us an email [email protected]
Adoption fees for all critters can be found on our website www.krsmallanimal.com

Netherland dwarf mix
Female (will be spayed 8/26)
Cabe’s adoption fell through and so this sweet holland lop boy is still looking for his forever home! He is pretty mellow and would do well in nearly any family!
Cabe is neutered, vaccinated for RHDV2 and microchipped. He does well with respectful humans of all ages, but prefers canine siblings to be calmer/quieter.
He does have a bit of a sensitive tummy and does best with a limited mostly-hay diet!

Hanson has been searching high and low for his forever home! Unfortunately he hasn’t found them yet, but is keeping his spirits up and paws crossed!
“The food is pretty good here, but maybe we could eat dinner together as a family at your house next week after my spay?” -Chemistry
Chem looks wayyy bigger in this video than she really is! She is ~5 months old and currently weighs 2.5lbs!!
380 days and counting :( :( :(
In three days we will hit the worst kind of milestone anniversary for Gabbi. On August 1st she will have been with us for one entire YEAR 💔
Sadly pink-eyed animals tend to stay in care longer than their brown and blue-eyed pals, and Gabbi has been no exception. Shes met a few families and has frequently heard the line “I like her, but…..”
Gabbi is outgoing, super confident, excellent with her litterbox usage, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and LOVES dogs. She doesn’t love to share her immediate space with other rabbits though doesn’t mind having a bunny neighbor in a nearby space. Can you give her that forever family she’s been waiting SO long for?
its been almost a MONTH since our last rabbit adoption 😱😭
Can you help Trident break the spell?
Do you like quirky spunky buns with big personalities? (like me?! 😜🫣🦹) Please consider Trident to join your family!!
Trident is a stunning mini rex who is SUPER soft, velvety AND bold and outgoing too! He has gorgeous tricolor markings and really really really likes food. He would make a fun clicker training companion for the right family!
Trident likes food so much he can be a bit overenthusiastic about dinner time and so his foster family has been using puzzle feeders and snuffle mats to harness that excitement into more appropriate behaviors. He does awesome free-range, but because he can be protective over his space, we recommend that he have a safe pen enclosure area that can remain human-free and a separate space to get those wiggles out.
He will need a home without super small kids who might be intimidated by his bossy attitude :) He has done well on bunny speed dates though and may appreciate a companion with the right match!
Trident has megacolon, which is a fairly common genetic gut motility disorder. He is currently well managed with strict diet and plenty of exercise but he may require simple medication in the future to help manage if symptoms increase in severity.
Our first group of kiddos is being spayed and neutered at the end of the month!
They’re already vaccinated and microchipped so as soon as they’ve recovered from surgery, they’ll be ready to head into forever homes!!
Hello!? Forever home is that you?! Do you have snacks?! Are you here to let me out to play?!?!
-Marty
Marty can’t wait to meet you!
10am-noon today at The Dog House (2230 W Nordale Dr) in Appleton!
Trident, Marty, Chia and Soy will be available to meet/adopt TOMORROW! Stop by, say hello and hopefully fall in love!!
📆: Saturday 8/10
📍: The Dog House (2230 W Nordale Drive) in Appleton
⏰: 10am-noon
Sweet Marty Man hasn’t caught the eye of his forever family yet :( He is a GREAT goofy guy who loves to eat!
🔆 SPOTLIGHT ADOPTABLE 🔆
Marty is a beautiful rex mix who has re-joined us from a family who was looking to downsize. He has a stunning velvety coat and a goofy personality.
Marty lived as a free range bunny in his last home and loved it! He had a particular affection for rubber backed items and would only chew bath/kitchen rugs and rubber soled slippers.
Marty is SO sweet and has a goofball, awkward personality! He loves attention and is so so soft! If he was in a high school yearbook, you definitely wouldn't find him listed as a math whiz or a candidate for prom king, but he would absolutely win class-clown and crowd favorite awards! He would prefer any human kiddos in his new home be 5+ though as sometimes the loud unpredictability of toddlers frightens him.
He uses his litterbox well, loves food and enjoys gentle pets! Marty is ready to be your new best bud!
He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated for RHDV2!
Gabbi is still hoping, waiting and wishing to find her forever home! She has been waiting over an entire YEAR! 😭
Here’s a photo from August 2023 (her first day in K&R) and a photo from July 2024 (at a recent adoption event). 💕
Can you help her August 2024 photo update be an official adoption photo with a family of her very own?? 🤞🤞🤞
FOUR are still waiting for forever homes! These friendly boys would do well in nearly any family!
Still here, still waiting for a forever home! 🐰

Hanson is ringing the dinner bell loudly because he doesn’t want more salad, he wants DESSERT!
This silly boy is shy at first but give him a few days to settle in and his goofy side shines through!
He is neutered, vaccinated for RHDV2, microchipped and very tidy with his litterbox!
Hazel has also been adopted!! 🎉🎉
Happy trails Pinky!! Thanks for adopting!!

Hanson's foster home walked in on some suspicious tasting... sorry, "grooming"... He was quick to proclaim his innocence. 😆
Hanson is very cautious with new people but give him a few days to settle in and he opens right up and lets his silly personality SHINE. Hanson is a zoomie king who loves have room to sprint around and is amazing with his litterbox!!
Hanson is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated for RHDV2! If you can give him a wonderful home, please reach out ASAP- he deserves a chance at forever
Trident hasn’t received any inquiries! Could he be a fit for your home?

Thorson has been adopted! Congrats little buddy! Enjoy your new home!
Gabbi found herself at a local animal control facility as a stray in July 2023 and was transferred to us 8/1/2023.
That’s right, this amazing gal has been homeless for at least AN ENTIRE YEAR! How can this be???
Gabbi has a fearless personality, is excellent with her litterbox and loves food and toys! She can be bossy/mouthy so older kids are probably best but she adores noserubs and hanging out with her people!
These NINE babies are hanging out in foster families but will be available to head to homes in about a month once they are big enough to be spayed and neutered!

Hope you’ll stop by Petco in Oshkosh (1935 S Koeller St) on Saturday July 20th from 2pm-5pm! We will have quite a few of our adoptables with us. If you are hoping to meet someone in particular, please reach out to us ahead of time. We will not be able to facilitate bunny speed-dates during this event, so if you'd like to set up a bunny speed dating session for your current bunny to pick out a new friend, please contact us for a specific appointment!
Flora and Sprite are still looking for their forever home!! This mother and 5 week-old daughter pair are curious and social and would do well in nearly any home! They must be adopted together as a pair 💚
Noel enjoyed her movie star moment yesterday!! She was treated to a beautiful set, met some wonderful new friends and enjoyed some yummy greens and snacks from her snuffle mat! This sweet girl is somehow STILL searching for her forever home 🤯
Queen Angora got to try her very first pup cup this weekend and it was a huge hit! She hopes her forever family will include her on their coffee runs too! ✅ Spayed Female ✅ 9 years young ✅ Goldendoodle Angora does awesome with other respectful dogs and older kids. She is more stoic/aloof personality but enjoys being near her people (vs bouncy affectionate). If you’re looking for a foot warmer in the library or a calm presence while you garden, she is your gal! She is a puppy mill survivor and was not a house dog so she is timid with new sights/sounds like the vacuum or garbage disposal. She is housebroken to a schedule, walks very nicely on a leash and needs both a confident dog friend and fenced yard in her new home!
Prince Jersey is zooming through Monday morning and racing into the new week! 💫 He’s full of smiles and tail wags and feeling optimistic that he might catch the eye of a forever home very soon! 💚🐶
What a whirlwind weekend! We were so honored to participate in the small animal education station at Pet Expo MKE again this year. We are unpacking, getting critters settled back into their foster homes and giving our volunteers some time to rest and recover for the next few days. 😴 Please be patient as we catch up on emails and messages!
It’s a wild shopping weekend! While you’re filling up your online cart with lots of deals, we’d be forever grateful if you would add in an item or two for the K&R critters! Items can even be shipped directly to us! GAH! How cute is Zoom?!?! This little guy moved into a new foster home and is having an absolute blast! His little personality is SHINING and he is so silly and spunky once he feels safe! We’re so proud of how far you’ve come little buddy! Now we need to find you a forever family 💛 Zoom is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated for RHDV2 and has impeccable litterbox habits! He would be a fun free-range bun!
We need foster homes!! We have a LOT of rabbits in desperate need of experiencing what a real family feels like while they wait for a forever home! Additionally, there are quite a few rabbits on our waiting list who are currently in shelters and animal control facilities who are not doing well in those environments. 😢 We can only help them if we have openings in foster homes! - K&R provides an enclosure and supplies - K&R obtains and pays for the medical needs - K&R reviews applications and facilitates adoption appointments - You provide daily care and lots of love - You help with transport to vet if needed and adoption appointments - You share personality information to help match with families - You SAVE A LIFE 💛 Contact us if you’re interested! [email protected]
Still NO pending applications for Sandlot?! How can that be?! ✅ Neutered ✅ Vaccinated ✅ Microchipped ✅ Litter-trained ✅ Kid-friendly ✅ Dog/Cat-friendly ✅ Bunny-friendly (can be adopted with Maiya as a ready-made pair!) He may look a little rough around the edges but this guy is AMAZING! He is a volunteer favorite and makes friends wherever he goes. Sandlot is social and sweet!
