Life goals for me is the dressage yard I was at today with a llama on the front lawn in front of the house 😍
Recently I hosted a two day CPD (continued professional development) course with great thanks to my yard Openshaw Equestrian for allowing me to use the yard and the owners for donating their horses to give us such a wide range of animals to work through
After meeting all of the set requirements I have now gained my certificate in Advanced animal chiropractic techniques! Very proud to have added yet another thing into my treatment toolbox to make sure I can give all of my clients the best treatment possible. Good CPD is never cheap but for me is an absolute investment in to each animal that comes on to my books.
Lucinda and Angus made for great demo horses for us each morning with Lucinda clearly finding both days very relaxing!

And why I won’t be wearing my ring to work 😭
Little personal life update!
Francesca Fernside Elite Animal Therapy may be needing a name change in the future ❤️
Not to make anyone jealous - but Jack has exceeded himself with this holiday and we are only 12 hours in! Beautiful place and already getting my animal fix
Will be posting a few different things that I never get the chance to do when at home whilst I’m here as long as the wifi holds out and we don’t find any turtles to keep me busy. Still contactable if needed but my replies may be slower 🌊
7 horses treated today and I’m now officially in holiday mode! ☀️
Today I saw everything from ex racing thoroughbreds, happy hacking cobs, retired competition trotters imported all the way from Malta for a life of happy hacking here, showjumping Connie’s to geriatric welshies. It’s been a day of variety but hopefully all now on their way to feeling and moving better ❤️
Working dates update for July! ☀️
Just letting clients know I will be out of office from the 19th July as I’m being whisked away on holiday to Turkey by the other half 🇹🇷
If you are planning on trying to book in for the end of the July we can either get you in before I go or when I return to work on the 1st August
Maeve pictured here is an OTTB (off the track Thoroughbred) she’s been with me since April 2023 having regular treatments to help bring her into the ‘normal’ world of work with her first time owner & teenage rider (a combination that may scare some).
But her owners have put so much hard work and dedication into her it’s great to see their efforts paying off. Last night she had a maintenance treatment and the evidence of her musculoskeletal improvements through the use of training and professionals around them was so clear. A couple of small areas that needed to be worked on as she now moves into the world of club competitions but she was looking and feeling the best she ever has! I’m looking forward to seeing their journey continue from ex racer to competition horse 💪
I love my regular clients but it’s always special treating something out of the ordinary!
Over the weekend we had a great time celebrating my mums surprise 60th in the countryside!
Everyone should now have received a reply to any messages that I missed over the weekend with no signal, but with bookings coming through texts, two Facebook accounts, emails, WhatsApp, the website and Instagram I don’t want anything to have slipped through so if I’ve not got back to you please send me a nudge
Client check ins are being carried out this morning then I’m out of office again from Thursday afternoon with a trip down to London to celebrate the first Doctor graduating in the family 🩺🎓 just to clarify I’m not the doctor graduating!! 🤣
Phew that was a long day 😴
First horse started at 9:30am
Last horse finished at 9pm
No better feeling finishing work this late and driving home in the light though!
Cal having a post treatment yawn, he just didn’t want to do it whilst posing for the camera 🙄
Last time I saw cal we had lost some top line and were very restricted through his shoulders which was affecting his movement. He’s now remuscled, looking well and the saddler has just removed the shims that were needed under his saddle - all testament to the hard work put in by owners!
A happy face after finishing their treatment off with likit stretches! 😍
Today we had both large and not so large dogs treated in between the horses
Can you guess what the breed may be on the right? (Hint she’s a mixture of two breeds!)
Very happy to announce that our little herd will be growing by one next year all things going well!
Our mare Lucinda has scanned in foal with a confirmed heartbeat today to the lovely Irish Draft Aye Aye Skipper. Very excited (and nervous) to see what these two will produce
Please everyone keep your fingers crossed for a smooth journey🤞
Working late is never a chore when I get to do what I do ❤️
a busy morning running personal errands with some exciting news coming, an afternoon of dog treatments and then 4 horses back to back has led to a very long but very enjoyable day. Looking forward to seeing the progress each of todays clients makes with their aftercare
So so proud for a second year running I’ve been chosen as a finalist for the Equestrian Business Awards Equine Therapist of the year. Speechless to have made it again, even more so out of 212 therapists nominated.
Cannot wait to party the night away with my little team behind me who’ve supported me all the way - but this also means it’s time for another summer celebration party at home with everyone who got me here in the first place! 🎉
Todays office view in between clients ❤️
Emergency treatments are a common occurrence and are usually because someone has been doing something they haven’t. That might be being too boisterous in the field, getting up close and personal with gates & fences, slipping on soft ground, the list is quite literally endless
But piccolo took it one further when I got the message if we could bring his maintenance treatment forwards after he had taken it upon himself to wrestle with a cow that shouldn’t have been in his field
Feeling very sleepy and hopefully back to normal by the end of his treatment 🐮
Today I received some sad news and had a little cry in between appointments
Charlie one of my regular clients who loved his treatments has passed on, it was a pleasure to be able to help him with his comfort and ability to move
Hug your animals a little tighter and please keep his owner Kathryn in your thoughts ❤️
Sadly Molly didn’t break my record for the smallest ever horse for me but she was certainly the smallest one this week!
You can take the girl to a wedding…
Straight from work into some nicer clothes to celebrate the union of two beautiful people in the most picturesque place
even found some cows to give a stroke! all reports from today will be finalised tomorrow x

One of my favourite sights to see - Rosie, paralysed and incontinent on my first visit now runs to greet me
None of this would have been possible without the dedication from her owners!
I promise a full write up on her will be coming soon
Back from Scotland, we were blessed with beautiful weather for the entire trip and the views were to die for! 🏴
Now sat down with my diary for June, give me a nudge if you need a slot
Out of office! Well after the shortest return to work I’m away now until Wednesday up in what will hopefully be sunny sunny Scotland! Wished we could have timed this for when I was already off but oh well that’s life
Received some beautiful cards and flowers on my return, a lovely and very meaningful surprise for me and definitely good for lifting the soul ❤️
Still contactable with a couple of spaces available but my replies may be slower dependant on signal. Next week I am already covering Bacup / Weir / Bolton / Radcliffe / Leyland
You can lead a dog to a wobble cushion but you can’t make them wobble?
Freddie decided it made a much better cushion to rest his head on than have to do any balancing
First day back at work ✅ took no photos other than this, far too busy talking and treating. It’s been good to be back!
Celebrations for coming back to work! 🎉
After a hospital appt this morning the cast on my arm is off, I do need to take it easy as my knee needs to heal further or I run the risk of an operation but I’m fine to get back treating
Because of my time off I’m having to be as efficient as possible with routes to get everyone back in, please be mindful for the next few weeks appointments will not be as flexible
If you need an appt please get in touch - this week alone I am covering Bolton / Chorley / Preston / Liverpool / Lymme / Blackburn / Burnley / Radcliffe / Atherton / Tyldsley
It’s been stressful being off work with this being my first time fully self employed. I love working for myself but this has certainly not been an easy ride. Thankyou to all of my amazing clients who have been so patient and waited for me to get better. Looking forward to seeing you all soon! ❤️
Not quite the news I wanted today after finally seeing a Dr, but they are on board with getting me back to work ASAP, just waiting on a MRI scan and then will hopefullly have a clearer idea on a timeline
Thankyou to all of my lovely understanding clients in the mean time 🫶

Last week was a hectic one! Thursday saw me drive down to the Trailblazer dressage championships, treat a whole host of wonderful horses and drive back that night. 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of treating made for a great but long day! It was so lovely to see both returning clients from last year and new ones from this year and I can’t wait to do it all again at the next one ❤️
A different before and after today! 🐑 Reggie is a pet sheep who needed some help in his senior years. Much comfier, more stable and more mobile post treatment! Happy sheep happy owners happy therapist ❤️
One of my favourite sights to see - Rosie, paralysed and incontinent on my first visit now runs to greet me None of this would have been possible without the dedication from her owners! I promise a full write up on her will be coming soon

Never got the chance to post this earlier in the week Happy news - Rosie is now walking! For those who may not remember Rosie is the dachshund who had lost the use of her back legs and sadly wasn’t improving with rest and medication. She has been improving in between her weekly appointments with me and at our last one we were able to walk (although be it very wobbly) short distances. Both me and the owners are overjoyed. A more in depth case study will be written up about her for those interested but the improvements were too big to not share ❤️ The owners have been so invested in her rehabilitation and I’m so happy their hard work and dedication have paid off
Filming some canine exercises in the garden yesterday in between my morning and afternoon clients, Hamish took his chance when I nipped inside to try and help himself to the chicken - busted!
Yesterday I’m not ashamed to admit that I shed a tear with a client. Rosie - a miniature smooth haired dachshund who has suspected IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) had non ambulatory paraparesis (she was unable to stand with her back legs, walk or wag her tail and was incontinent but did have deep pain present when tested). With surgery sadly not an option the vets recommend 2 weeks of strict cage rest with pain management, dachshund she showed no improvement through this and the vets had recommended euthanasia as a suitable option. The owners wanted to give conservative treatment a try and so a family member contacted me. I treated Rosie for the first time last week with the vets consent and full history sent over to me, we discussed the potential long road to recovery ahead of us with sadly no guarantees of anything working. Yesterday I went back out to Rosie for the first time - her owners are happy to report she is back wagging her tail, is now able to stand (supported for balance as shown in the video) although can occasionally stand unsupported for a second or two, is no longer incontinent with her now letting them know when she needs to go outside and she has started to move her legs independently during their rehabilitation exercises. Even though we still have a long way to go with sadly still no guarantees things will continue to get better they thanked me for saving their dog. This is where I then tried to be professional but couldn’t help but shed a tear with them. Her progress is already a testament to them and their dedication to her aftercare post treatment, the lovely couple are in their 80’s and don’t use technology but have been so attentive to every thing we have discussed and have been extremely invested in both her and me. I’m thankful for the part I have played so far in this dog’s rehabilitation and hope we can continue this progress back to walking independently!
So much to update social media with from my time in the states but for now It’s back to helping my lovely clients feel and move better. Not even some serious jet lag and wondering when my suitcase might make it back to the UK as it seems to have not wanted to come home with me has stopped me looking forward to my return to work. Lucky to love my job!
I love when I get the chance to watch an animal for a longer time after treatment. Here is Mojo who is having a very relaxed evening after his treatment which we we could watch whilst I treated his older brother Mojo is a typical young warm blood who is very switched on and likes to create his own entertainment if there isn’t any for him to watch 🫣 that makes reactions like this even more special when you can see horse who is typically so engaged completely switch off, relax and process ❤️
The working day is never done when you’re self employed! Finding time to treat my own horses can be difficult as I have to schedule a set amount of time out for them whilst I’m at the yard. However the dogs love having a late night nap on the couch in between my legs whilst I work on any areas that need some attention Here is Hamish enjoying a snooze during his session ❤️

Did someone say product launch?! Lots has been going on behind the scenes at Elite Animal Therapy with the first project coming to light tomorrow. Stay tuned!
Just as a reminder for this time of year ❄️☔️ For me to effectively work on your horse they need to be dry and mud free - if they have been turned out and have muddy legs if you can hose them off that’s great, damp legs aren’t a problem but if the hair on their body / neck is wet it makes my job much harder so please pop a rug on them to keep them dry if they are being turned out before I get to you! This also saves my hands and clothes from being wet and frozen all day which is muchly appreciated 😅
Whilst I might not have come home with the award, I think the smile on my face shows just how happy I was to be there celebrating with my team! ❤️ Coming into this I felt like a serious underdog with my very small 400 Facebook followers, compared to the combined 10k of the other three therapist finalists, but it’s left me proud, happy and humbled to be able to have reached this stage so early on in my career A big congratulations to Laura Mundy Certified Equine Therapist and Saddle Fitter for winning, and for the other two in my category for making the final 4! It was a great night filled with lots of networking and celebrating the equestrian community. Very happy to see various north west businesses take home the title with Cumbrian Heavy Horses, Shy Lowen Horse & Pony Sanctuary, Vikki Fowler - Veterinary Equine Dental Technician, Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre winning their respective categories Wonderful meeting some of Thompson House Equine Vets, EquineShow247, Calton Saddlery Services Ltd. and most importantly Gawsworth Track Livery over the cooked breakfast this morning! Who knows, maybe I’ll make it back for the Equestrian Business Awards therapist of the year 2024…
Another busy week with lots of variety - the key to life! As someone who preaches a lot to mix things up as part of your rehab / prehab I must admit I have fallen into a bad habit of largely only riding in the school recently! (I’m only human and this is why I understand so much when you say you’ve fallen off the wagon with your stretches or rehab plan - it happens to us all!) After a wonderful leg dissection with a fantastic vet who again talked about the benefits of variety in the type of work (approapriate to the horse) it’s time I started listening to my advice and take my education back out of the school sometimes! Here is the lovely Hugo who has a wonderfully varied lifestyle that helps keep him on top form showing me his beautiful teeth during his treatment earlier this week - have a lovely weekend everyone! ❤️
Enjoy a blooper moment on me nearly ended up on my ass, thankfully behind the camera 🫣 Filming a couple of polework exercises for a client didn’t quite realise I was walking backwards towards a jump wing - not sure why I go so northern when I ultimately fall over it 🤣 You only get the best type of guidance and information with Elite Animal Therapy!!
Busy week treating everything from riding school horses and happy hackers all the way to dressage horses aspiring for Grand Prix! When this lovely mare was first seen I couldn’t palpate around her hindquarters without her trying to kick me, and when I performed any adjustments or soft tissue work she would bronc on the spot or try to bite. They think she had an argument with a gate in the field and lost. She had her follow up session on Wednesday this week and wow what a difference! We had two much smaller areas where she still showed some tension and resistance through her lumbar region and stifle but the difference from one treatment and the owners following their aftercare advice and exercises is fantastic! Enjoy your weekend ❤️
