There are so many DIY options for your dogs, cardboard boxes, egg cartons, and paper towel tube's, all make great enrichment items.

Creating canine enrichment with a cardboard box is easy and fun. Here are some steps to get you started:

Choose an appropriate-sized box for your dog's size and breed.

Cut out holes or flaps in the box to create openings for your dog to investigate.

Place treats or toys inside the box to encourage your dog to explore.

Hide the box in different locations to make the game more challenging and engaging.

Alternatively, you can create an obstacle course using multiple boxes for your dog to jump over, crawl through, or weave around.

Always supervise your dog during playtime to ensure their safety.

Thank you for all you do, your caring hearts do not go unnoticed.

On leash greetings are not ideal for most dogs.

Although most puppies are dog social, in adulthood most dogs become dog selective or dog tolerant. Some may even become dog reactive.

Who doesn’t like to enjoy a good treat?

Just like us, our dog’s don’t always enjoy sharing their tasty treats! 🦴

When our dog’s are enjoying their bones or other high value items like lick mats or kongs, it is important to set everyone up for success… But what does that look like? 🧐

1️⃣ Give the dog some space… Stay out of their face!

2️⃣ Set up a success station where your dog has the ability to have the space they need to safely enjoy their treats without having babies, toddlers or even people approaching them

3️⃣ Actively teach your children that if your dog has a bone (or food or other high value item like a toy) they need to be left alone. By saying these words out loud and modeling the behavior we want for our children, we are able to help set everyone up for success!

Remember! If you need to remove an item from your dog be proactive not reactive! Teach your dog to “trade” or “leave it” before you need it!

But when our dogs exhibit undesirable behaviour, we may be tempted to resort to quick fixes like punishment collars or trainers who use forceful techniques. However, these methods come at a high cost to both the dog and...

Puzzle games, or search and find are great ways to feed your dog, outside of a bowl.

Feeding your adult dog two measured meals a day is usually best; free feeding food is probably the worst choice.
