A very grateful shout out to Jody,
Dee Dee, Geoff, Shannon, Fiona, Barbara, Marel, Kathy and Tia! Thank you so much! We were able to purchase bird blocks for UC Davis Companion Avian & Exotic Pet Medicine & Surgery Service. Also a big thanks to Mikes Falconry Supplies www.mikesfalconry.com who graciously waived the hefty shipping fees of the bird blocks to UC Davis.
What’s a bird block you ask? A bird block is another name for a perch used in falconry. These perches cater to different types of wild birds. Not all birds perch the same. Some birds perch best flat footed while others perch by gripping a branch. UC Davis CAPE service also treats wild birds and has a dedicated department to wildlife. You can read more about it here:

This is a video of Gomez at Christmas. Every year she received a box of Cheerios from Santa. I loved her so much! I still do.
She is my true love ❤️ I Want to help the students at UC Davis help save the lives of our avians friends. I can’t do this alone, please consider donating $5 on the behalf of your beloved pet to gf.me/u/vty9mn

One of the most difficult days for any pet owner is the day their pet passes away.

Hello. My name is Shannon and I am hoping to raise money for UC Davis Companion Avian & Exotic Pet Medicine Service. I lost the love of my life on May 5, 2019. Her name was Gomez. She was a Quaker Parrot. She was just 3 months shy of her 18th
birthday when she passed away. My heart is
absolutely broken. I still cry for her every day. She was my constant companion and my true love. Please visit my Gofundme page and read my story. If you’ve ever enjoyed the company of a wild bird, or have known someone who has loved a bird or have loved a bird yourself , please consider donating or making a donation on behalf of your beloved pet. Most people have dogs and cats as pets and have no difficulty finding a veterinarian. Even in an emergency situation if your own vet is unavailable you can find another vet that will see a dog or a cat . It’s not the same for people who own birds or reptiles as pets . I can’t tell you how heartbreaking it is when your pet gets ill on a weekend and your vet clinic is closed and you have to drive all over town searching for someone who can help . We have a shortage of avian vets in our area (Reno). Our only option is to travel to UC Davis. My open is to raise money to support the students at UC Davis with the equipment they need to compete life saving procedures on our avian and reptilian friends. Thank You
