Sometimes vet med is tail wags, treats and slobbery kisses. But other times it’s bites, scratches and muzzles.

Sometimes vet med is amazing clients that thank you 100 times and bring you goodies just for doing your job. Other times it’s “why does this cost so much” or “you’re just in it for the money”.

Sometimes vet med is new puppies and kittens. Other times it’s grey faces, arthritis, and a long list of health problems.

Sometimes vet med is perfect blood draws, catheter placements and beautiful X-rays. Other times you wonder why they even hired you and if you’ll ever be good enough.

Sometimes vet med is laughing with and educating clients. Other times it’s tears shed when you’re finally alone after saying goodbye to your favorite patient.

Sometimes vet med is perfect temperaments and patient animals. Other times it’s random bruises or holes in your knees after crawling on the floor with a nervous patient when they’re too scared to get on the table.

Sometimes vet med is new uniforms or scrubs. Other times it’s owning stock in hydrogen peroxide and stripping on your front porch so you don’t bring anything home to your own pets.

Sometimes vet med is wellness and vaccines. Other times it’s emergency surgeries and hospitalization.

Sometimes vet med is coming in and clocking out on time. Other times it’s coming in early or realizing it’s 2 hours past the end of your shift and you’re not even close to being done yet.

Sometimes vet med is loving what you do. Other times it’s living paycheck to paycheck and wondering how you’re going to pay your bills.

Sometimes vet med is amazing. But most of the time vet med is hard. Be kind to your veterinary staff because “you just couldn’t do it”, but we DO.

Meet Pirate ❤️ he and his sisters were rescued shortly after mom left. All of them were tangled together by their umbilical cords. Their owners found them outside and were able to cut them apart. They took them in and have been bottle feeding them every couple hours. Pirate ended up having to get his hind leg amputated. This baby is 3 weeks old. When we look at his story of survival, it gives us hope ❤️ not many orphaned kittens make it. However, this angel and his sisters have survived and this guy shows us all to fight. Fight for your life and don’t get situations get you down. If this tiny baby can do it, so can we ❤️❤️
