Little Hearts Rescue is an organization that is desired to rehoming small animals, specially guinea pigs. This rescue is based on fosters and donations.

Our goal is to save as many lives as possible, and insure proper care. Located in Ripon, California.

BUNNY FOSTER NEEDED 🤍🐰

Long term or temporary.

In search of a foster home for our medical bun Harold. Harold recently had a sanitary shave & examination, after coming in from our LA case. He has another vet appt this week, that we will be taking him too. Harold needs 3 medications daily (he’s a champ at taking them). The medications are just pain meds & antibiotics, he has nothing contagious & it’s just from scars/wounds on his body. He needs an attentive foster who can give medications twice a day, keep his sleeping area clean, & also monitor for blindness. It’s possible this kiddo can’t see very well, as we are picking up on a few signs. If you’re able to dedicate some time loving on this kiddo & caring for him, we’d so greatly appreciate the extra help.

I will be leaving out of town for the weekend, so even a weekend watch would be so so helpful.

All supplies provided of course. I will be taking him to his vet appointment on Thursday & his foster can pick up after the appt or Friday morning 😊
Within 30 minutes of Modesto please. 🩷
He’s so sweet, loves exploring, head pets, & his veggies! Getting used to litter box training, if you keep it in the same area.

Baby bunny update:

Beginning of the night bun was eating veggies & hay, along with moving around the cage. It appeared he was going to be such a little fighter! Breathing normal & had a vet appt in the early morning today.
However, during the night his breathing changed & we ran him into the vet. Unfortunately had to be euthanized. He was starting to struggle & unfortunately it was a fight that he could not bounce back from 😔

It sucks sometimes having a big heart! Of course we want to save them all & try our hardest, but even then it’s just not enough. Especially with so many recent losses, the rescue ones just hit harder than normal. 💔
Thank you to everyone who donated. I know you weren’t able to “see it through”, but please just know your contributions to our medical funds helped with his exam & euthanasia costs. Anything remaining will go to future appointments, such as our bunny “Harold” who has one this upcoming week. Who knows, we could have another emergency case knocking on our door later today.

Rest in peace little guy 🥺🫶🏼 I know you had that fight in you, but your body said other wise.

BABY BUNNY 911 🚨

We are intaking tonight a 5-6 week old bunny with a broken leg. Already have a vet appt set up for tomorrow morning to be examined. If it’s a clean break with no other major issues, we will ponder the idea of amputation or splitting. If it’s more complicated then we’ll look at quality of life for this kiddo 💛

Donations are greatly needed! Especially for his vet appointment & x-rays. Then possible medications + split, euthanasia, or amputation 😳 I will keep you all updated tonight when we intake & tomorrow at vet appointment. Even $5 helps our organization so much.

I’m speechless. A post, thank you card, nothing can show my appreciation towards everyone. If you follow the wonderful , she put up an Instagram story, hiding me from it! Extending the offer to anyone who wanted to take part in a gift for me 🥺 So many lovely individuals came together to be apart of it & I’m blown away. Not even by this group of lovely humans, but by everyone’s kindness & grace during this difficult time. To those who weren’t even apart of this.
The generosity in this group was beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined. It was a total shock & surprise, that has made this traumatizing experience filled with so much ease & hope. I love you all dearly 💛

WARNING: Disturbing & gross images ⚠️

Who remembers our LA fires bun that was covered in ash & noted as medical attention? Now named Harold, he was in desperate need of some TLC upon arrival. Harold received bath soaks when he arrived, but a sedate & shave was medically needed at our vet this week. Harold was able to have all the nastiness shaved, his wounds & cuts attended to, & fully examined out by doctor. We believe Harold is a 1-2 year old bun, who could possibly be blind (more examination to come). Harold is on 3 medications & a topical ointment as he’s healing. This kiddo is such a gentle, sweet soul. He’ll be good as new in no time! ❤️‍🩹
We are so glad you’re with us Harold.

Thanks to your gracious donations, we were able to pay for Harold’s vet appointment in full yesterday. This is such a blessing 🥹 We have 3 other vet appointments this week however, so donations are greatly appreciated!

rest in peace to my herd of 10 females & male duo 💔

my heart is absolutely shattered & my stomach is gutted. i don’t know the words to type to share the news with you all. this has been such a roller coaster of emotions: shock & depression being the biggest. i found 12 of my personal piggies passed away unexpectedly, last thursday. necropsies have been done, cultures sent out, discussions with zoologists, pathologists, & so much more. we are on the track to getting our reason of death confirmed, but i will keep you all updated once it’s completed.

this past week has been my worse nightmare. a post regarding vet details + answers to come soon. along with a proper tribute to my 12 beautiful babies. i just found it’s time for me to share the news, as i can’t keep putting on this “everything is amazing” front.
these personal piggies were a huge chunk of my life & everyday existence. it’s the most difficult thing navigating life without them 💔🪽

Grab your popcorn for this one 😅🍿

While going to pick up our second crew of LA critters from our foster, I came across rabbits in the middle of the road. I noticed there were 4 littles, running across the street. People walking their dogs, cats coming to attack, multiple times almost getting ran over. I found pieces of fur on the side walks from cats previously attacking them. I chatted with the neighbors & they pleaded for me to help, as these rabbits have been digging holes in their yard & were concerned for their well being.
I spent 2 hours trying to catch these buns. Right when I caught the third one, the suspected owner come out of the home & began causing a fuss. Keep in mind, these rabbits were not in his yard but ways down the street. I spent an additional hour, explaining how this was unsafe living for the buns, on top of proper welfare. After many debates & trying to educate, I was able to get “the owner” to surrender 2/4 of the buns (we weren’t able to catch the 4th one). The owner stated he breeds many different animals & explained his rabbit back yard breeding history. Animal Control is aware & we can hopefully get to the bottom of it. My heart breaks for the remaining animals in the home.
For legal reasons I will not share the video clips & voice recordings I have, that took place. Hopefully I can in the future.

These two are safe with us & to no surprise, one is pregnant. Extremely pregnant & due any day now. Send well wishes & prayers she delivers safely & can begin to decompress after having a rough life 😔

Thank you so much to for matching our grant with a gift card to shop. This couldn’t have arrived at a better time, with all of our recent intakes.
Oxbow is a brand I’ve been using since my first guinea pig ever, back in 2008. It’s my most recommended pellet & hay to anyone with small pets. This is a blessing I could’ve never imagined!

From shelters to the good life! Our LA fire critters are settling in from their hectic weekend. Our rabbits, guinea pigs, & hamsters are making themselves right at home.
You might spot some of the donated goodies in these photos too!! Thank you to everyone who donated so we could supply our fosters with everything they could need 🩵

Transport #2 has arrived safely! We have 4 robos & 2 young guinea pigs. These all came from West LA. One of the robos is going to need veterinary care, as she has a large wound on her rear end. ❤️‍🩹
This completes our intakes for the LA fires, however, we will not forget about those in LA who are still experiencing the tragedy, post fire. We will follow up with surrounding shelters & check in to see how we can still help, even after the peak of it all.

We went from having ~20 animals needing homes at LHR, to ~100. More information to adopt these LA critters within the next 1-3 weeks, but please view our current adoptables!! They need homes just like everyone else & have most likely been at our rescue for some time 🙁 You can visit our adoptables under our photo albums.
