LHR is located in Modesto, California. We are a foster and donation based rescue.

We have happy tears!
Mona found her forever home last night 🤎 She’ll be a traveling road dog, visiting parks & staying active; Her parents are disc-golf players.
So blessed to have placed Mona in such an awesome home. I’ve raised this baby at just 2 weeks old, the day after Christmas 2024.
Her new name is Mocha ☕️🤎

The two best friends that anyone could have!
Moose & Kenny are a precious pair of boys. Kenny (American guinea pig, tan & white) & Moose (Silkie guinea pig, brown agouti mix) are very social, loving, & spunky boys! They’d be a great pair for first time piggy owners. They love their treats & veggies, along with head pets.

Bessie needs a home! This cutie is only 7 weeks old & is looking for a committed family. She’s a short haired Syrian hamster. Bessie loves cresting tunnels, jogging on her wheel, & softly taking treats from your hand.

Hazel & Harper are the perfect piggies for first time piggy owners! These girls are full of snuggles & smiles. They’re both American guinea pigs, Harper being a tri-colored & Hazel is a brown agouti. They love their veggies, cuddling on the couch, & popcorning around their cage. Estimated around 9-11 months old.

Family saved!! 🫶🏼

This family of 4 was abandoned in Visalia & taken to the shelter. Thanks to the shelter coordinators, Cambria for transporting & Elizabeth for fostering, we were able to help.
Mama is confirmed pregnant, the 2 young females will be on prego watch & daddy is receiving extra TLC from bite wounds.
Poor littles were SOS & at risk of euthanasia.

We are desperately needing foster homes. Even if you can foster a single guinea pig, it helps us create space to save more. I have 4 single males who could help free up cage space for us to pull more from these kill shelters. All supplies provided. Must be in Nor-Cal. Email [email protected] or DM us if you’re able to help foster. Even fostering a single piggy temporarily until May 17th (Pignic) would help a TON. 🥹

Love you all & this community we’ve built. We do what we can to help these voiceless critters!

Single buns needing fosters or adopters ASAP!
Unfortunately their foster is facing a family emergency & need to return them 🫂

Is there any home who is willing to step up & help us care for these cuties, while we search for their foster home?

It has been a minute since I’ve been active on socials!
We had a family emergency arise on Friday & are finally able to breathe, thank GOD 🙌🏼💜

Sorry for the delay in messages, applications, adoptions, etc. I appreciate all your patience. In the few moments I was able to check my phone, I was working on our upcoming Pignic. BE PREPARED TO BE SICK OF ME. I’m going to be blasting the heck out of this event 😂

Please welcome Cow to our rescue 🐄

This is actually the mother or sister of Angie (mama to all our babies), the rabbit whom we saved from roaming the streets with a neglectful owner. She was brought in as a stray hold & is now in our rescue’s care.

Upon intaking Cow, we noticed she was very large & possibly lactating. We waited a few weeks & decided to take her into our vet for a pregnancy check. Thankfully she’s not pregnant, but we will continue to monitor incase it was just too soon. We believe it was a pseudo pregnancy.
For now Cow is resting in her foster home, learning what it’s like to be an indoor, spoiled rabbit 🤍

So happy to have this girl safe. She has to be one of the sweetest buns I’ve ever met!

Mama Angie got spayed yesterday 🥰
This beautiful girl was saved from roaming the streets, with a very neglectful owner. She delivered 7 babies at our home (still available for adoption!) & will soon be available to find her forever home 🏠

Thanks to her foster mama Dorothy for loving her so dearly & helping her get spayed 🖤

Ummmm those aren’t Russian Hamsters….

Few weeks ago I was sent a few different messages, about “free hamsters” at a Petsmart. .guineapigrescue was able to secure them for me & later delivered to foster families. They’re most certainly baby Syrians & not Russian Dwarfs 😂 They’re on a short prego watch just to make sure, but will soon be available for adoption in Sacramento area.

ADOPTION STOOD UP!

Mona has had TWO, scheduled adoptions this week… BOTH have canceled within 24 hours of meeting 😔 One cancellation for being “too much money” (she’s fully vetted + DNA tested for a $200 adoption fee) & another for not being small enough (estimated 25-30 lbs).
We are heart broken by this & Mona does not deserve it. She’s such a loving family dog & deserves a home of her own, forever 🏠

With the baby bunnies being posted tomorrow for adoption, I want to make 1 thing very clear.

✨ Rabbits (along with any other pet) are life long commitments. ✨

Meaning: you keep & care for them, their whole life. Through the ups & downs, expensive vet bills, lifestyle changes, etc. They are a forever commitment, 10+ years. I understand the “hype” & appeal to adopt a rabbit during such a season, however, please discuss with your family if this is the right pet for you & if you have the capability to care for them forever. 💛

We pour lots of time, energy, money, & care into these cuties. Our organization does NOT adopt out to just anyone & we own that statement with pride. We have a low return rate, due to us being so picky & will keep it that way. LHR will never adopt out a pet to someone we feel does not meet proper requirements & care, for that pet 💛 We love them like our own. All these animals come from terrible situations, & we never want the possibility of them going back to a time like that.
