Alright LHR fam! LET’S SAVE LIVES! 🐹🚨💜

So Cal has ~20 hams on their euthanasia list. We recently took in 10, which 9 have been adopted out 🎉 TOMORROW, we will be having more transported up to us.
If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, PLEASE message us ASAP! The only way we can take in majority (all 20 maybe?) is if we have your help!

📍 Hams will be transported to Ripon & Sacramento tomorrow! Adopters & fosters can be from surrounding areas.

Another foster of ours will be in taking a mama + 6 newborns TODAY. They were being given away for free, with no water, in a reptile/fish travel cage. 💔

ANOTHER guinea pig dumped. This is 3 in 2 weeks.
Thank you to Amber (involved with CaliFid Rescue) for reaching out when she heard about the situation. We are happy to intake this kid.

Petco employee stated a family came to return their purchased guinea pig, but didn't have a receipt or pal reward account to verify the purchase. The employees cannot accept a return without it. The family threw a fit, left him in a cardboard box on the counter and rushed out.

This is heartbreaking for many reasons. The innocent life of the guinea pig, the continuation of selling animals in stores, rescues being over full, no adopters, the list goes on.

On Monday, we will be in taking a nursing hamster with 6 babies, along with many other single dwarfs. 3 rabbits & handful of at risk euthanasia guinea pigs. Donations are needed at this time to help cover costs of food & supplies for our foster homes. The animal crisis is HERE & higher than ever.

Let’s just pause for a moment & look at how perfect this girl is! Chicken Little (CL) is a bottle baby bun, who was found in a neighborhood. She was being attacked by cats, infested with fleas, & in rough shape. Thankfully with the right care & love, CL is a happy, healthy, growing girl! We are unsure her breed, as her coat & markings are quite unique! CL might be on the more medium sized bun, as she’s growing into her big ears. CL is fun, outgoing, & cuddling. She’s about 90% box trained too, at only 10 weeks old!! CL is looking for a FOREVER home.🏡🩷

Please keep in mind rabbits can live up to 10+ years! Rabbits are a commitment.

We’d love to find this girl a home with another bun, neutered male or female (preferred spayed). Bonding sessions need to be taken place in your home as well! Please do research on cage adjacent bonding, as bonding rabbits can take months.

She does not come fixed, however, we can work with the adopter to get her fixed through our veterinary hospital, on a rescue discount. We strongly encourage this & ask you do research on it.

Bay Area Pignic 2024 is right around the corner! 🩵🐹☁️🫂✨

📍 Portal Park in Cupertino, CA - 9/7, 10am-2pm

Just like previous years, Little Hearts Rescue will remain the Cupertino supported organization. The unfortunate news is I, Aubree, will not be at Pignic this year… I’m getting married!
However, that does not take away from an amazing event. There will be giveaways, health checks, raffles, games, adoptions, garage sale, & more. This fundraiser event is a large portion of our fundraising for the year. It helps our organization save & feed hundreds of lives!

We are so happy for Dexter, who got adopted today! He was on death row down in So-Cal & is now living the good life.

Dumped, dumped, & more dumped.

Another piggy from a local Petsmart (different store than previous dumping) was found in the parking lot this morning. The unsecured critter trail had multiple levels of p**p underneath the baby piggy. Along with a small bag of pellets near the stupid cage. Baby boy is maybe 6-7 months old, & surprisingly fearless of humans!

Thankfully we had an open cage to intake this little boy. He’ll be on quarantine & available for adoption soon.

I often get asked why I don’t do “pre-adoptions” on babies or any of the piggies. There’s a few reasons behind this:

1. Illness or health complications could occur at any point. Especially new intakes from unknown background or newborns.
2. Pairing up with other piggies: mama, sibling, dad, or another piggie we have in the rescue.
3. The most common: FOSTERS KEEP!

Example being our foster, fostered this whole litter of mama + 4 babies (2 boys, 2 girls) & when it came the time to pair up & place for adoption, they foster failed the whole family!! 🧡 Boys were separated of course, but mama gets to stay with her 2 daughters. & lucky me gets to see updates & pig sit 🤭

Hamster babies!!!
We have many littles looking for 🏠s. Too many to post individual bios. Both females & males available for adoption, in Ripon & Sacramento location. 💗 3-5 months old, most are pretty easy to pet & okay with being handled. Hams are either tan or white. All of them were saved from a hoarding case in So-cal, that then faced euthanasia at a local shelter. Give them another chance at a forever home!

Bonita, because that’s what she is! Bonita is a loveable, cuddly bun who needs a forever home. Rabbits with red eyes are often over looked, as they appear “scary”. Bonita doesn’t have a mean bone or “scary” personality at all to her! Her eyes are pink, full of love 💗 She was found dumped as a tiny little baby, off the side of a road. She’s now the perfect house rabbit & is about 90% litter box trained. We believe she’s about 6 months old.

People just make me: 🤬😭😤🤯

Petsmart employee reached out to me stating someone dumped this little girl, in 100°+ degree heat in a shopping cart outside. We could not resist this intake, especially with the poor condition she’s in. Severely mated, under weight, p**p dipped nails, & extremely scared.

She will be available for adoption after quarantine & her health is improved. Please no messages on adoption just yet!

Monday calls for a happy post!! ☺️

Our medical bun (still name-less) is making such great progress. I cannot thank you all enough for the donations we were able to raise to treat him. What a blessing it is being able to commit to such a severe medical case, with you as our community backing us up. I will forever be grateful that our organization can still be running because of our followers, supporters, fosters, & donators!! 💛

Bun is doing FANTASTIC! He’s a huge eater, oh so snuggly, & is healing. I may or may not be getting attached to this sweet soul… so the future adopter will have to be the perfect home for him 🤭😉

Trixie passed away last Thursday, exactly two weeks post spay procedure 💔

I found Trixie on Thursday night acting strange within minutes of cleaning her cage. She passed away in front of me not 10 minutes later. According to her necropsy & speaking with multiple vets, it’s confirmed she passed away by passing a clot blood & having a stroke. It all happened so quickly & unfortunately there was nothing more I could do. Her spay procedure was due to her ovaries having many cysts. She was losing weight & hair rapidly.

I know I have more adorable images of my little gopher, ground hog, Texel guinea pig. But frankly I’m too upset to go hunting for them. She was my first (along with her twin, Roxy) dream piggie: a Texel. She is such an irreplaceable piggie that will leave such a void in our herd. My heart is so torn losing 3/12 herd members. 3 in which were the herd leaders & peace makers of the group.

Available for adoption in San Jose, CA. Two male bonded budgies, Citrine and Topaz (age unknown). Citrine (bright teal) is a brave and curious budgie who is receptive to the beginning stages of hand taming. Topaz (light teal) loves to play with toys and is a bit more cautious. These two would do best in a budgie experienced house as they need extra care to hand tame and convert to a balanced diet. The current owners are needing to rehome due to the auditory sensory needs of their family members and they will miss watching these two play and preen each other. They come with new HQ Cage Brisbane (32x22) Bowls, Perches & Toys from Elle & the Birds and BirdTricks and a box of Custom bird cage liners.

13 ANIMALS SAVED FROM LA TO 🚘 RIPON/SACRAMENTO

It takes a village!! Today Maureen transported 10 hamsters & 3 guinea pigs to us from LA to Ripon. Which Erika was then able to transport 8/10 hams to Sacramento, to meet their new foster families. I am fostering the 3 piggies & 2 hams, here in Ripon.

So so grateful for an amazing team of networkers, supporters, & overall rescue community. These 13 did not lose their lives in the shelter this week thanks to all of us.

Male hamsters available for adoption now (bios coming soon). Females will be available in the next 2-3 weeks. Guinea pigs available 1-2 weeks.

❤️ HE IS SAVED ❤️

Today we pulled the sweet baby boy from the Stockton shelter, after coming in as a stray. It’s unclear what are the cause of his terrible injuries. Only thing that could really make sense was he was dumped, living on the hot pavement & was severely burned.

Baby boy is covered in open wounds, hair loss, burned skin & fleas. On top of that, severely malnourished & his wounds were full of maggots.
The vet was able to shave him, clean his whole body & wounds, along with giving some SQ fluids.
He’ll be on pain meds, antibiotics, & topical ointments as he heals.

One thing about this bun is he’s oh so sweet. He loves humans & is all for head pets. His love for veggies might be even greater, as he was introduced to them today! I would not be surprised if he has never had lettuce, cilantro, green peppers, & dandelion greens before. He thought they were heavenly! He is the definition of a perfect, innocent angel!!!

Bun is now in his temporary foster home while we continue our move. Thank you so so much Elizabeth (Magpie’s adopter!!) for taking him in.

Most importantly thank you all for your donations & support! We raised about $150 over needed donations for his vet visit. The remaining donations will go towards his supplies, follow up vet visits, etc. Truly would’ve not been able to save this kiddo if it weren’t for the generous community around us.

❤️‍🩹 WE NEED YOUR HELP ❤️‍🩹

This young bun was brought into a local shelter of ours, obviously in rough shape. His ge***al area was infested with maggots, urine scolding, & other wounds. It’s unsure what the cause is, but there’s a need to help. Especially with a fear of being euthanized.

We’d love to intake this cutie TOMORROW, but we need funding. Our experienced veterinarian is aware of the situation & able to help. However we have minimal funding for this medical case.

Our organization is starting their move tomorrow through the weekend. So if there’s a temporary foster who feels comfortable & confident to aid to this bun, that would be appreciated as well. All supplies provided, must be 30 minutes from Modesto.
