Tippy had her vet visit!!
Remember our crooked, head tilt piggy, that was “damaged goods” by a pet store? She had her first vet appt with our primary vet. After examining & going over her history, we have a few ideas on what could cause the head tilt. The two main ones being: possible E Cuniculi (fungal infection that causes head tilt, when kept in large unsanitary groups) or born this way. She’s not in pain, there’s no injury, she’s not neurological, & no ear infection. It’s possible she came out of the canal incorrectly when being born (as we all know petstore pigs are in**ed). So we’ll work on her range of motion in some physical therapy exercises too. Tippy was sent home on a short course of fungal meds, to rule out E.C as well & for extra protocol.
Overall she’s a perfectly healthy baby pig! Just always looking at you with a sideways head 😉
Thank you to all who donated towards Tippy’s vet visit. Thank yous will be going out this week, so please send us your address if you donated! 🤍
What a great time seeing our favorite vet, Dr. R, at her new hospital, ! For those of you who don’t know, my personal pup is a 5x surgery patient at this hospital, with his orthopedic specialist. Dr. R & I worked many years together at another practice, before I stepped away from working vet med. I followed her to her previous practice, but has now transitioned over to OVG! My heart is SO HAPPY as OVG has a special place in my heart, in both my personal pet’s life & now rescue. Not to mention my favorite tech ever (Sam!!!) who I worked with previously, makes all my cute paw prints, & is great with rodents, is now at OVG too!!! Couldn’t ask for a better team & experience over at OVG, for ANY type of pet. 🩵
