Later, we will take Ruldolf for another FeLV test.
We have been looking after him for 5 months and he is FeLV SNAP+ and FeLV PCR-.
This means he can become FeLV- or FeLV+ so we need to isolate him as a safety precaution.
Once we know his FeLV status, he can join the rest of the cats or go to Rahula Felv Sanctuary
It has been challenging because he is still hostile and being in isolation means a lot of additional work.
The best outcome is for him to be FeLV SNAP and PCR negative!
Let's hope for the best.

Every year, we launch a calendar to raise funds to pay our rescue vet bills. This year's theme is Bloom, a theme that resonates with shade.
She was so shy when she arrived and would stay away from us. Then she had stomatitis and it was a lot of effort to help her heal.
Luckily, she began to get well and become this super affectionate cat. We can hug her, pat her and talk to her. She was so happy!!! When meatloaf came, she enjoyed herself with her new little brother. Yesterday, she was still happily playing and eating.
Today, she left. You can even say it is a good death!
She did not suffer and departed.
We cannot anticipate when a FeLV cat will depart but what we can do is let them have the happiest of their lives in the sanctuary.

Shade passed away today.
When she arrived, she was shy and later had stomatitis.
It took a lot of effort before she bloomed into a happy girl.
Her last few months were one of happiness and joy.

Tuas situation continues to be challenging.
He does not allow us to touch or go near him.
The anti-fungus medication is added into food. Most days he finished his food but there were times he refused to eat.
His fungus is a resistant type so he is in an isolation room. It requires long term treatment but fungus medication is touch on the liver and he is FeLV+ so that creates additional challenges.

Shade is now very affectionate with us.
Very happy to see that. Today, gave her a shower.
Recently she had stomatitis and it has healed. But it made her coat dirty. Now with a shower, she is fresh and clean.
Very good appetite too and we told her to eat as much as she can.
We also add supplements to boost their immune system.
She is now a very happy big sister to little meatloaf.
Sorry the pic is blur because it is very hard to take her pic. Everytime she sees us, she will run forward for a hug. :-)

Robert is still not very friendly with us and will keep his distance.
If we try to go near him, he will attack.
So we let him be and we make sure he has food and everything he needs. We still look forward to be able to hug him.

Yesterday was Baby Gus birthday.
This little boy came to us because he was tested FeLV+.
We isolated him and retested and he finally became FeLV-.
how time flies. He is 3yo but to us he is still a baby.

Look at little meatloaf!
When he arrived 2 weeks ago, he was hissing and ready to attack.
We kept a distance but we tell him we love him and promised we would give him any food or toys he wanted.
Now, he has become a super sweet boy. and he likes it when we play with him. Now we see a very cute, adorable and happy face. What a precious little boy!

Tuas had surgery for his front paw.
Unfortunately, the infection is fungus, which is very difficult to treat. We need to keep him in the isolation room away from the other FeLV cats.
We hope he can recover slowly and get rid of the infection. We will give him supplements to boost his immune system and hope for the best.

Tuas needs to go to the vet tomorrow. There is a swell on his paw and we want the vet to examine it.
We will also take the chance to check on his fungus condition. He is in the isolation room because of the fungus. As soon as he is free from fungus infection, we will introduce him to his siblings.

Little Meatloaf prefers room service so we serve him food right in front of his cat house.
If we are slow, he will meow to ask for food to be delivered ASAP.
Very cute little boy and very adorable.
We cannot go too near to him but we can wave and say hello to him.

He was rescued in Tuas (of course) :-)
Very sweet and cute little boy Felv+.
He is in the isolation room because he has fungus infection. We will help him to get well before introducing him to his new siblings.
Meanwhile, we want hi t o feel welcomed and loved.

Please meet the very cute little meatloaf.
He was rescued as a kitten, and luckily the rescuer fought all the way to keep him alive. He was subsequently tested FeLV+ but as he is still young, they tested and retested. Unfortunately, it was still IFC (PCR) positive. So we welcome him in the sanctuary.
Thanks to the rescuer and fosters who rescued and nursed him back to health.

Today, we gave shade a shower. she is drooling again and her body gets dirty. She was not very happy but when we started to massage her, she liked it. Her favorite part is probably after the shower when we wrap her up and hug her.

hello everyone, we take in FeLV cats to look after them for life.
We get many request to take in FeLV cats.
However, the results ars all based on SNAP test. We will request for a PCR confirmation to make sure the cat is really FeLV+.
The PCR result will take about a week and the challenge for many rescuers is they are unable to house the cat while waiting for the result. Are there any cat boarding places that will accept a cat during this period? If yes please let us know so that we can recommend to the rescuers. If the cat in FeLV+, we will accept them into our sanctary.

When animals are rescued, they become part of the rescuer's value system and may end up being put down even if they can recover.
That is why this year's Vesak theme is animals as fellow beings. This means we treat the rescued animals with respect and as fellow beings. The approach is to offer them support to get well or be comfortable, not as a "rescue" that we do as we please.

Gold-D wet food and treats are all carrageenan-free.
Recently, we stopped the jelly range because the supplier of carrageenan-free ingredients discontinued it. We have found a new supplier and are evaluating it now.
We have many FIV and FeLV cats and they have a higher chance of cancer. But it is an ingredient that no animals should be exposed to because cancer is usually not reversible by the time we discover it.
We mention carrageenan-free on all of our labels.

Author Ingrid King, who is also a former veterinary hospital manager and veterinary journalist, has expressed concern over the presence of carrageenan.

Yoshii passed away this morning.
While the vet have been able to stablised him, he was overwhelmed by the infection. Being FIV and FeLV+ made everything more challenging.
Yoshii is a good boy and we are very happy to have been able to look after him in the last chapter of his life.

This evening, the vet called to inform us that Jose had passed away.
He was affected by the FeLV virus and a possible FIP.
This little boy appeared out of nowhere and we realized he is FeLV+ so we adopted him. He has always been such a cheerful and playful boy. Only 2yo. Life ended so fast for him.
We are glad to have been able to care and to love him.
FeLV cats can be very fragile. We understand and accept that they can leave very suddenly so our approach has been to love them. Make them feel, happy, precious and loved everyday.

Jose is at the vet too and his condition is not optimistic.
The blood test suggests that the FeLV virus is attacking his bone marrow. At the same time, the vet suspects he has FIP.
The outlook is not optimistic.

Yoshii was supposed to have a review today for his skin issues.
But this morning he was very weak and almost unresponsive.
The vets have done a series of test and his results are chaotic. So the vet suspects he is overwhelmed with the infection. He is being hospitalized and they are trying to stabilise him.
