CONFIRMED: Fire Restrictions will commence on 9 December 2024 for the entire CFA South East Region (District 8, 9, 10, 11, 27).

Spring rainfall across much of CFA South East Region is below average, particularly in parts of the Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland.

While the weather hasn't been very hot, we have had consistent warm temperatures and strengthening winds daily. Combined with low rainfall in some areas, grassland fuels are currently 10-20% drier than the same period last year.

Many parts of the Mornington Peninsula and Gippsland are curing rapidly with current values of between 50-80% in the grassland fuels.

Brigades are increasingly responding to grass and scrub fires, therefore the timing is appropriate to transition to Fire Restrictions across the CFA South East Region commencing 0100hrs - Monday 9 December 2024.

So yesterday on Wednesday we went back to Ararat to do our annual re-certification with Annie's Dogs: Therapy Dog Training … we did our usual zoomies at the velodrome then had a snooze & then it was off to do our obedience test on Thursday. Jess was there with our buddy Ace we had fun.

So after taking an unauthorised dismount from my horse Harry our Pet Therapy visits have been put on hold this week … nothing broken just a severe soft tissue injury … now that I have this bad boy on & booked in for some physio sessions I should be back on deck next week 🤞
