June is Pride Month, an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ+ voices, a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and the support of LGBTQ+ rights.

Did you know each color on the flag has its own meaning? In the widely known six-color flag, red is symbolic of life, orange is symbolic of healing, yellow is sunshine, green is nature, blue represents harmony and purple is spirit.

Love is love and a dog’s love knows no boundaries.

Love like a dog. 🐾

Two paws up 🐾 to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 176 - Billy Bishop, for the incredible donation they presented to DOGtor Brinkley and the HERO DAWGS! We are humbled by their generosity, and their donation will go directly to recruiting more hospital HERO DAWGS for the mental wellness of our healthcare heroes. Now that’s something to bark about!

Posted • Passengers and crew on board the were recently treated to a few four-legged special guests from Pet Therapy Society. DOGter Brinkley, Skylar, Buster and their handlers joined us on board to meet and greet customers as they sailed to Victoria 😍

Hero Dawgs Pet Therapy Society is an Indigenous founded, non-profit society dedicated to providing canine-assisted wellness visits (pet therapy) to hospital healthcare workers in the critical care units (Burns, Trauma, ICU, CSICU and Emergency) of BC hospitals.

It was ‘woof-derful’ to have you on board with us! 🥰 🐶

It was a furbulous event! Thank you for having us spread some love! 🐾

Posted • As the weather warms many people are outside enjoying the trails, parks and campsites with their pets.

But with warmer weather in Canada also come the many insects that carry transmittable diseases. This includes ticks, who can be active at 4C or warmer.

For this reason, May is National Lyme Disease Awareness Month, a yearly campaign to help educate pet owners about the disease.

At Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital, our board-certified specialists are trained and equipped to handle diseases like Lyme disease.

We asked our internal medicine team to give us some tips on preventing, recognizing symptoms, and treating Lyme disease; available now on our blog at our link in bio.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the role mental health plays in our overall well-being, and the value in raising awareness and helping those in need.

Recognition and education are important ways to remove the stigma associated with mental illness. Talking openly about mental health can reduce the misconceptions and stigma, and can encourage those who are struggling to seek help and find a support network.

What can YOU do to raise awareness for mental health? The best thing you can do is reach out and start a conversation. Just supporting those in your life can spread the message of awareness and acceptance.
Educate yourself on the realities of living with mental health issues.

Contact your local mental health organization to see how you can get involved or volunteer. They may have their own awareness event you can participate in.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, visit helpstartshere.gov.bc.ca or call 310Mental Health Support at 310-6789 (no area code needed) for emotional support, information and resources specific to mental health.  🐾

• Today is Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a throwback to our first pet therapy day with HERO DAWGS!

As a Founding Partner of HERO DAWGS (), we proudly support their canine-assisted wellness visits to healthcare workers in critical care units, first responders and health clinic patients.

Our team members experienced firsthand the heartwarming impact these beloved dogs have in an office setting, and we look forward to their return!

Was so incredibly honoured to be asked to write an article on my precious DOGtor Burke for Bernese Please, the official publication of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Canada.
