Bill, of TX, added a few decorations into his aquarium! Not only do decorations like this add pizazz, it offers an additional hiding spot for your fish. Hiding spots are beneficial because they add enrichment and security. You get the best of both worlds! 🐟

Did you know that March is Women's History Month? What better time to feature a woman in the aquarium space!
"My name is Sheila. I have had a couple freshwater tanks in the past 15 years. I purchased my HelloReef tank last fall and started my saltwater obsession. The amount of material I read and listen to regarding this hobby is wild. The hours I spend looking at and working on my tanks is amazing. I find watching fish relaxing. I hadn’t thought about fish tanks in a couple years and my adult daughter mentioned wanting one for her house. I began a deep dive looking at what tanks were on the market and found myself interested in saltwater. I have so many fish and corals that interest me. However my current favorite fish is my Flame Hawkfish. He has such a personality and is so interesting to watch. My bubble tip, rock flower, and carpet anemone receive a lot of my viewing time as well. Currently my favorite coral is a Purple Valley Platygyra for the colors. I also enjoy my Duncan. A fun fact about me is that I was stationed on the Gulf Coast while in the Air Force and instead of enjoying this interest back then I volunteered my off hours at an animal shelter on Elgin AFB, lol. Now I live in the Midwest and obsessed with saltwater inhabitants."

A little under a year ago, Mr. Ware's classroom, of Peterson Central Elementary School in West Virginia, received a fun fishy kit! “Meet the man behind (or in front lol) of the reef! My name is Bryan and I’ve been keeping aquariums since 2016 with my first crowntail betta in a plastic 2.5 gallon tank. Time went on and I delved deeper into the tropical freshwater side of the hobby with a 10 gallon tank with dwarf gouramis, harlequin rasboras, and peppered cory catfish!

In January 2024, I took the plunge into what I thought was the impossible and started my own 15 gallon reef tank with the help of ! Almost a year later, and this hobby has taught me many lessons, heartbreaks, and successes. I hope you can follow along as I build a little slice of the South Pacific in Southern California!”

We’re coming in hot with another coral spotlight, showing you more coral that you can have in your HelloReef aquarium! Check out this Hammer, a large polyp stony coral (LPS). The name is self-explanatory, the ends are shaped like tiny hammers! They enjoy indirect flow and moderate lighting. An important thing to note about hammers is that they need space between other corals to avoid stinging. 🪸 #helloreefaquarium #hammercoral #largepolypstony #coralsofinstagram

They spread out like a carpet, the technical term being ‘encrusting mat’, under healthy aquarium conditions, so you just might end up with a stunning blanket of green in your tank! 🪸

They always want to swim RIGHT in front of you when you’re trying to take a photo or video of your corals. 😭 I love you little buddy but you need to scoot out of the way for a second.
