This is Tate. He's a loving guy who loves him some catnip. He says he can walk away from it any time he wants, but I'm not so sure. Tate is 4 years old and has FIV which means he has a weaker immune system but can live many happy years (as long has he has access to nip). This young lady cat is Rena. She's a beautiful long-haired girl with soft silky fur and a duster tail. Rena starts out very shy with people she doesn't know, but once she trusts you she likes loving very much.

Rena is FIV+. She can live a long, healthy life but she should be an only cat, or better yet, a home with other FIV+ cats. APL has several FIV+ cats who can keep her company.

This is Deidrick. Yeah he's not a black cat, but he's my favorite cat at the Animal Protective League in Springfield. Deidrick is a great cat. Always ready to come over to say hi and get some love. He's been at the shelter for several years. I don't know why he keeps getting passed over.

He is FIV+ which means he needs to be an only cat or live in a home with other FIV+ cats. Deidrick is the longest resident in the FIV room. FIV isn't a scary disease. FIV cats can live just as long as those without the disease. We have had an FIV cat without any problems. All he wants for Christmas is to spend it in his own home!
