Adorable & adoptable, plus, hey he's pretty good at : Bean. Let's talk a minute about emotional development for dogs. In general, most folks think that the most important things a puppy can learn are to not p*e and p**p in the house and not chew on things. But there's soooo much more that can be crucial in a dog's development--they really really need to be socialized with both other dogs and with people consistently and in positive ways so they develop the confidence to have healthy relationships where they can blend seamlessly into different environments. But you know what? Sometimes that just doesn't happen and you end up with a sweet, amazing dog who wants so badly to give kisses, but doesn't understand personal boundaries. One that wants so badly to be part of a household, but isn't used to ever being out of a crate, so having run of the house is a little overwhelming.
That's our Bean. He has spent the first 5 years of his life, watching things from the sidelines. He wasn't abused, but he didn't spend a lot of time interacting with others, so he's not quite sure what to do with himself. He has a lot (and we mean, a LOT) of energy and is discovering what toys are--but still prefers to play with things that are not toys, like water bottles or soda cans.
He is timid at first around new people. He wants attention so badly, but is afraid of contact until it happens and is gentle. He loves being in bed with you, or sitting next to you in your chair. If that position is already occupied, he likes to sit or lay on your feet. He wants contact and sometimes he can be a bit mouthy-- This means that he needs a patient family--one that probably is adult only or older kids only. He's not a good fit for a first time pet owner or for someone who wants a super-confident, "ready out of the box" kind of guy. Bean is an absolute love, but he's still a bit of a project right now, so we'd love to see him go to someone with lots of experience who is willing to let him live life outside the crate to the fullest.
