So every time I start this post the tears just keep flowing. It was more than a small bump in the road. McDoogle collapsed on the 4th of July in the back yard. It just kept getting worse from there. The next morning, with tears in his eyes, Dr. Sanderson said it was time to let McDoogle go. Huge pieces of our hearts went with her. She was my Best Friend and by my side always. She and I were to start our new venture the next day at the Cancer Center. We had been accepted into a new Hospice program.
I have struggled through the last 3 months convinced we were not to have another dog and content with that decision. Until McDoogle made it clear to us that she wanted me to continue what she and I started and she wanted John and I to share our love with another dog that needed a home.
We will never stop loving you McDoogle. I miss your breathing at night beside me. I miss you having breakfast, lunch, and dinner with us. I miss our walks no matter how slow we went we continued to make it around the block. We miss you so very much and we are going to do what we feel you would want us to do.
I cannot believe that we have been lucky enough to have been chosen to get a beautiful Lab named Ginger. She is 6 years old and from Texas. She will be flying to Johnstown this week-end with a stop in NC.. I will be grooming her for Pet Therapy. She and I are going to continue what you and I stared together. They are really in need of a dog in the schools for the reading programs, so that is where we are going to start. With the help of Golden Girls Therapy we are going to make you proud McDoogle. Christine Fogle tells me all the time how much she misses you and how you were one of her best ever Therapy Dogs. A job well done McDoogle.
McDoogle you will be forever in our hearts and we will never ever forget all the love you gave us and all those that came in touch with you. You were the most gentle, sweetest, loving dog I have ever known. May you be running the fields in Heaven and waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. BTW Liam tried to build the Rainbow Bridge to get you back. He misses you bunches too.
