Good morning all!

I still have some space available on the next UK Sniffer Dogs Scent Detection BRONZE course, starting in the 2nd April, 8pm, for 6 weeks. Classes are held at Fitzworthy Equestrian Centre above Ivybridge.

On the course your dog will learn to search all manner of environments such as bags, chairs, vehicles & more!

Nervous dogs welcome! All dogs are kept on leads throughout the course and there no requirement to mix with other dogs.

I am so happy to finally announce, I have my first ever UK Sniffer Dogs GOLD Scent Detection Trial graduates!

I’m so proud of all these dogs (and handlers). All of them have worked so hard to reach this point, and it’s been such a pleasure watching them progress through the BRONZE, SILVER & GOLD courses.

To give you a run down of the criteria they have achieved on the GOLD Trial:

✅ People Searching! - 3 people, one hide, dogs had to find it in just 1 minute!

✅ Underwater Searching!? - Dogs had to detect a hide hidden underwater amongst many pipes, and in just 1 minute.

✅ Active Search! - Dogs had to run from their handlers to a search area many metres away, and retrieve 3 items smelling of Catnip one after the other back to their handlers hand in only 3 minutes

✅ Novel/Area Search!! - Dogs had to search a huge search area filled with a car, chairs, bags and lots of other bits and pieces. They had to find and indicate on 6 different hides of 3 different scents. All in just 6 minutes.

All dogs passed with Merit & Distinction passes. Serious well done to these 8 superstars 🥇

Bit late but happy new year everyone!

These dogs started the new year with a bang! Smashed thier UK Sniffer Dogs SILVER Scent Detection Trial.

Jess Pocock & Mako, Amy Saunders & Sirius, Sarah Pybus & Wartie, Jen Cook & Merlin and Bethany Savage with both Neville & Charlie!

I was so impressed with the level of some of the dogs here, both in the search and the indication at the end. All these dogs are pet dogs, but it was like watching a bunch of professionals at work! And to do it after Christmas break is even more impressive

They had to complete various searches against the clock, looking for hides only containing 1 - 2 drops of gun oil. Distinction & Merit passes all around!

New 2025 UK Sniffer Dogs Scent Detection courses now available to book! Please check out the featured section at the top of the page all dates and availability!

BRONZE is your beginner course. No prior experience necessary here, it's open to all pet dogs. SILVER & GOLD are your follow on courses once you have completed to the course before it!

During the BRONZE course, your dog will learn to search many environments, starting simple with pipe and bag searches, eventually building up to vehicle searches like the pros. Eventually your dogs will be searching for hides only 3mm big! Do you think your dog is up to the challenge?

Scent Detection really is open to anyone that wants to do something different and fun with their dogs. It's also unique in that it's also available to those dogs who would be too nervous/anxious to participate in other dog 'sports'. There are six dogs to a class, but all dogs are on leads, kept several metres apart and there's no requirement to mix. It's just you and your dog, calmly working together to find those hides!

Taking part in the open day allows you to find out what Flyball is all about and for us to get to know you and your dog before starting a beginner course*.

Apologies, slight delay in posting this!

But last Wednesday 5 super dogs took on thier UK Sniffer Dogs SILVER Trial and blew me away with the results!

Congratulations to Rebecca Mitchell & Lucy, Stacy Hockey & Enoch, Kat Gill & Mabel, Jodie Harris & Phoebe and Jen Cook & Nova!

These dogs raced against the clock to find hides containing only 2 drops of gun oil in a variety of searches. They also mastered a new search altogether - THE ACTIVE SEARCH - where they were required to run to a search area, find a catnip scented toy, and then retrieve it to their handler.

All dogs smashed it out of the park, finding hides with plenty of time to spare.

Both handlers and dogs really impressed me at Trial. It was a pleasure to watch now experienced sniffers at work. You can see the leads go loose as handlers are fully trusting their dogs, and the dogs are so enthusiastic and motivated in the search. Plus many of them have an amazing ‘Freeze’ indication developed, not an easy thing to teach!

It’s been a pleasure all and I can’t wait to see you master your skills on GOLD!!

These clever dogs completed their UK Sniffer Dogs SILVER Scent Detection course this week!

Over the course, they learned a new scent - Gun Oil. They have all progressed to being able to identify only 2 drops of Gun Oil in any given search!

They’ve also learned a new search all together, a Active Search - where they needed to search for a Catnip toy and retrieve it to handler.

Super proud of all of your progress. Well done to Phoebe & Jodie, Lucy & Becky, Stacy & Enoch, Bethany & Charlie, Mabel & Kat and Nova & Jen!

These brave dogs also all have thier SILVER Scent Detection Trial in a few weeks, where they will test thier new skills against the clock. Good luck!

Special shout out now to Gracie & Kayleigh now!

This dog actually did its UK Sniffer Dogs BRONZE Scent Detection course with another UKSD instructor. But still nailed the Trial with us, finding every hide on the night. Credit to the owners and all previous training! Just proves the quality of the UKSD course, no matter who you learn with 😎

We can’t wait to have you back on a SILVER course next year!

It’s been an exciting few weeks with dogs completing courses and passing Trials left and right!

First up is the UK Sniffer Dogs BRONZE Scent Detection Trial graduates!

These dogs have come such a long way in only 6 weeks. From complete novices, they have advanced to finding hides only 3mm big! And over the last 2 weeks, all these brave dogs (and handlers) took on the BRONZE Scent Detection Trial and passed with flying colours, proving they truly have mastered all the criteria!

Congrats to Reggie & Amy, Dexter & Kelly, Mako & Jess, Watern & Sarah, Tye & Elaine and Merlin & Jen!
