I'm Amy Clough, owner and sole baker of Clough'D 9 Cookies and Sweets (pronounced "cloud nine"). My cookies are a buttery vanilla cookie with a hint of lemon, topped with sweet vanilla royal icing. I am located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, amidst the farm fields and waterways of Caroline County. I do not have a store front, but bake my treats in my licensed commercial kitchen- found in my backyard
! I will deliver my treats free of charge to the Preston, Easton, or Denton areas. Unfortunately, I no longer ship cookies as of 2018. Please send me message to inquire about cost. Cookies can be individually bagged as favors, gift boxed, or arranged on platters (platters for local orders only).

Today was my baby’s last First Day of School 😭. I can’t believe he’s a senior. His dad and I are so incredibly proud of him, and we’re super stoked to watch him soar this year! Best wishes to all the teachers and students out there!

Congrats to my dear friend Marcia! She has joined the ranks of "Retired Teacher" this year. She was an incredible Media Center Specialist for many years and one of the sweetest people to work with. Here's to your next chapter, which I'm sure will include extended weekday coffee breaks!☕️

🍔What a terrific Burger Time class at .dessert.depot yesterday!! We served up great cookie versions of a grilled burger patty, toasted buns, fries, coleslaw, lettuce and tomato! My students did such a wonderful job! Thanks for coming to class!

As always, my backyard birdies have been creative in their nest building this year. This year, one bird was sneaky enough to build a nest inside one of my kayaks as it sat upside down on the kayak rack. I checked on it today. All eggs have hatched and everyone has fledged!

Calling all cookiers!! I’m excited to announce an upcoming cookie class with !! This ADVANCED cookie class will new taught by the one and only Amy Clough who has been a keynote speaker AND multi-time instructor at !
This class will be a 4 hour long class where she will teach several methods to create a realistic cheeseburger, French fries and Cole slaw. We will use a variety of tools including airbrushing and wafer paper.

*The only time I ever put all my eggs in one basket.
I don’t consider myself a risk taker. My husband says I am risk-adverse; I call it doing my homework🤓. TBH, I’m envious of people who can just throw all caution to the wind in making decisions. It must be nice to just decide on what to have for dinner instead of first making a pro/con chart.
And can we take a minute and love on that beautiful ruffled ribbon on that basket? It’s made with a TIPLESS bag🤯. But I can’t give away the secret! That’s reserved for students who take my Wednesday classes at CookieCon Austin!

It’s April Fool’s Day! And what better way to acknowledge April Fool’s Day than with Food Cookies! I love the challenge of re-creating the textures of foods with royal icing and a few cookie tricks. Making people take a double look is so fun!
I’ve had the pleasure teaching three food classes at various CookieCons, and I have a fourth food class coming to CookieCon Austin this September! No foolin’! Any guesses as to what the theme is??

☘️Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️
I made these little guys as a nod to my “vintage” leprechaun tutorial from 2018. In that tutorial, I used an upside-down ice cream cone cutter to make a cute hat-wearing leprechaun. So easy and fun!
I can’t believe it has already been six years since I made that tutorial. The cookie world certainly has grown and changed (A LOT) in that time and I feel lucky to still be a part of it!

I had the distinct pleasure in meeting up with some cookie folks last night at .dessert.depot in Mt. Airy Maryland. I don’t live in Mt. Airy, but I grew up there! So I jumped at the chance to visit the parents and visit with cookie people on the same day!
Let me say, if you’re looking for cake or cookie supplies in Carroll/Frederick/Howard counties (or even the Eastern Shore like me) you MUST visit .dessert.depot ! A GEM of a shop! And the sweetest shop owner, too! Shout-out to Jennifer!

I can't BEAR-ly stand how much I love this little guy!
Over the past few years, I've designed the majority of cutters I use in my classes. It has been super convenient because I can really tailor the shape and size to suit my needs. I've teamed up with Cari at Sinful Cutters, LLC to offer some of my cutters, so that others can enjoy the designs, too! Cari offers the physical cutters in her shop, and I have the .stl files for those of you who own a 3D printer. What a great partnership!

Fun fact: I planted dozens of tulip bulbs around my house in the fall of ‘22. We had most of them bloom last spring. But alas, only about 5 this year. The suspected culprits? A colony of voles. So we’ve put out some non-toxic deterrents (castor oil pellets) and hope to plant marigolds for summer- apparently voles don’t like the smell of any of those. I refuse to put out poisons; we have too many birds of prey (including a TON of eagles!) that call my area home. I’ll sacrifice my flowers in favor of maintaining the balance of nature in my backyard. Didn’t expect a decorated cookie post to turn into a science lesson, did ya? Once a science teacher, always a science teacher 😉. Fun fact: I don’t particularly like real carrots. No “baby” carrots, no peas ‘n carrots, no potatoes roast with carrots. None of that, please. I’ll tolerate shredded carrots in salads. That’s about all I can handle. I won’t turn down carrot cake or a carrot cookie though! Carrot cookies are so fun to make. Some Easter pretties that I started back in January 🤭. I designed and printed the cutters and even baked the sample cookies. I had big plans for this set! I was going to be ahead of the game for once! And then I was notified that I was accepted to teach Add-On Workshops at CookieCon this September in Austin. All other side projects were put on immediate hold so that I could work through my CookieCon class designs (I’m soooo excited about my CookieCon classes!). The Easter cookies were placed in my “best of intentions” bin for future practice/social media content. Does anyone else have one of those bins? I was so happy to have the chance to bring these spring designs to life. Took a last minute trip up to @jscakeandcookieconvention this weekend. I took a fabulous class from Leslie at @fourpeasandadog , a fabulous friend and INCREDIBLE sugar artist! It was so good being on the student-side of a cookie class. It was such fun to just create and it will help me be a better teacher for my cookie students. The class was Spiderwebs, No Doubt!, where we decorated these amazing 3D cookie bowls. I loved the juxtaposition of the bowls and their rough wood texture with the intricate, precise pattern of the spiderweb inside. So cool! Leslie is a top-notch instructor!! I also got to spend great quality time with amazing cookie friends @sweetnelsons @littlebirdiect plus run into so many others. This weekend was so good for me. I wish we could do this every month! It's my 2022 Cookie Life in review! What a year this has been! Here's a breakdown of some of the events: ✅Gave the Keynote speech at CookieCon 10th anniversary in Reno. Highlight of my 10+ year cookie career. One ordinary bunny cutter= lots of bunny possibilities! This cutter was a mere .98 from Walmart . Sometimes, people struggle with plain cutters because they’re not quite sure how to decorate them.
