Q: I’m intimidated by mecate reins… what do I do with the lead rope portion while I’m riding?

A: great question! You have a few options:
1. Tuck it (don’t tie!) into your belt, leaving plenty of slack. If need-be, it will just pull free and you won’t get hung up in it.
2. Half-hitch it around your saddle horn.
3. Coil and tie it to your saddle strings.

✨Mecate vs Loop Reins✨

The only real different between our mecate reins and loop reins is the length: our mecate reins are 22ft long which allow for an adjustable loop rein and an attached lead rope portion, handy for impromptu groundwork, leading or even tying your horse when done properly.

Our loop reins are 9ft long, attach to your bit via slobber straps and have the same great weight and feel that you have come to expect from Montana Tack Co.

Both styles of reins are 1/2” in diameter, made from UV and rot resistant 9,000+ lb tensile strength yacht rope and proudly made in the USA! 🇺🇸
