🔥We are looking for co-owners and associates 🔥
(now and in the future :) you're welcome to tag and share.
Two Peruvian Hairless Dog males (medium and grande), both titled and well known to the breeders and owners in the breed are looking for co-owners. We are also open for co-ownership some time in the future as well, should we have a puppy interesting enough for such a collaboration. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
💪🏼Our goal is to find a home where those dogs would be seen more and their potential would rise to a much higher level, since - due to family reasons (described below) - we cannot travel and show as much as those dogs deserve, and just maybe my opinion towards spending weekend at the dog show in time changed “a little”, to put it mildly. Come to think about it, it is really a shame those males wouldn’t be shown and presented to possible future owners and breeders, as well as those long time breeders who haven’t seen them in person for quite some time :)
Our idea is to have frozen semen of our males for the purpose of our own breeding at the Veterinary University in Zagreb, so we wouldn’t bother future co-owners in their family life and situation and possible show (and maybe even breeding) plan, while at the same time still have our males available for breeding nearby. 🤔
☝🏼We absolutely want to emphasize this does not mean we are looking for someone to show the dog every weekend and where dog(s) would live like show machines or robots in the trailer, from one show to another, or from one handler’s hand to another. It would be totally fine just to do three shows per year outside of Balkan region (because the dogs already have championship titles from countries in the region) and the occasional EDS / WDS. Our emphasis is ABSOLUTELY the home where dog would have a life as a family member, therefore kennels and boarding are not an option.
🤘🏼Since ever we have refused to send our dogs to “a crazy show home” that switches handlers and provides a turbulent show life - that has not changed and we are still standing by that (in case someone has got this wrong, has been rejected before and saw an opportunity now - those persons will be rejected again).
🫵🏼Also, one of the people waiting for a puppy from us is a photographer with an intention to start her own pet clothing line and wants a model that would be photographed throughout the whole life. This lady is not into dog shows or dog sport competitions, but creates beautiful portraits of dogs in the nature, which may easily be even more wonderful way of promoting and presenting a dog that is already titled and on top of all knows how to pose for that perfect photo. Such an offer we would gladly and immediately accept, since neither me or my husband are talented photographers, and cameras we know how to use when taking dog photos (and kids) resemble more to toasters than actual cameras :D
There is also a third way of promoting a dog in co-ownership that we might be interested in for the future - sport. But, for this kind of co-ownership, I would recommend we make a co-ownership arrangement for some future puppy that would have such training from the start.
Everyone who has ever asked me for a show dog know that I have been very strict when selecting a puppy and that I never give a guarantee of show quality up to a certain age (and even then I don’t guarantee that a dog will win), but in case of these two males I can give a guarantee of health, temperament, dentition, ears, testicles, size, socialisation and show/breeding quality. If you have read this carefully and still can’t find the guarantee that dog will win, guess why :)
So, as promised, we come to "televisia presenta" (don’t worry, noone is sick and everything is perfectly fine :D)
In 2023, we got Leilani. A baby that is 2 months old now and clearly states that we must do everything she wants and when she wants it. Beside her, we have Lorelei, 3 year old whirlwind with an incredibly vivid imagination, a firecracker with an incredible amount of energy. Also, there is queen Anja, a teenager with her own thoughts and serious “problems”. Kids are always with us and they find shows boring, so going to a show as family is very stressful and difficult to organise. Icing on a cake is my mother that has decided to retire and get some well deserved rest while travelling around, so she is not able to babysit any more which would allow us to go to a show alone, and also cannot take care of rest of the dogs.
To conclude, our Anja, main handler in Gruffalina’s show team, also gave birth to her own baby 4 months ago and we are congratulating her with our whole hearts, although that does not work to our favor with non-local shows, and won’t work for some time in the future.
Our family definitely has enough love, room and space for all of our dogs, as well as patience and special treatment for the veterans and with puppies of any size, but we are thinking forward for the good of the breed, breeding and raising awareness and promoting the breed. Everyone close to me know that my personal preference is towards males and that I have more males than females at home, and also that I always choose males to stay at home and arrange co-ownership for females. But, I have to be realistic with my own possibilities and options, priorities and balance between breed promotion and family life.
Now, the time has come for my boys for some more strolls down the catwalk, more showing off and possibly do some calendar shooting(s) or maybe participate in some form of dog sport in the future.
Many people who read this know that my males were never advertised as “stud avalable” and that I never had a “stud service”. This means none of my males has been “overused” in breeding, and this is something I want to keep on striving for. Quality before quantity :)
Therefore, this post is ABSOLUTELY NOT about the money and profits, just as our entire breeding plan isn't, it is first and foremost about the trust.
So far, I have worked with co-owners exclusively locally, close to us, but despite my long time experience with co-owners, it is more and more difficult to find right persons for such specific breed in our region, so I made up my mind to leave an open door for co-working and co-ownership with people living further away from us. Terms and conditions will be arranged individually and depend upon affinities and interests of a person who wants a dog and our practical possibilities. The most important thing is to honestly say what are your wishes and expectations, and your potentials and possibilities.
I'd like to use this opportunity to thank all co-owners, handlers, socializers and photographers that are crucial Gruffalina team members. Without each and every one of you this breeding plan would not be possible and probably about 70% of the litters would never have happened, with our breeding and dogs a lot less prominent and noticeable in the world.
Inbox is open, you are more than welcome with your questions and offers.
