Courtesy Post: Ares: born 05/23/21 male unaltered( was waiting until 2yo per vet) loves playing ball and tug of war, herding, and being around people. He gets along well with female dogs but has a bit of an Alpha issue around new younger males. Loves cows and never went after the chickens or ducks. Loves the water. Has had 8 weeks training and they used ecollar, but I don’t use it. He is kennel trained but requires a treat and does wine for 15 minutes. Has been around children, but tries to herd them when he gets excited. Has nipped under stress, but not viciously. He needs a 6 to 8 ft fence because he will jump and come to front door to be let in. He does not run off. He can be nervous around strangers and will growl and bark. He is a big sweetheart and needs attention. He is a big boy and is close to 100lbs. He is housetrained as well. She had x-rays and they found she has a broken pelvis which is healing nicely. She will be spayed on 12/28. Courtesy Post: Meet Thor! 2 year old, neutered male, German Shepherd, microchipped, house trained and crate trained. Great with kids. Typical GS behavior. Not good with cats at all. Had an incident with the neighbor's new baby goat. Thor has gone over a 5' fence so a 6' fence is required. Thor loves his family and is protective of them. His children are infant to toddler age. Thor loves blankets, he sucks on them for comfort. Thor loves his kong ball to be stuffed and frozen. Thor is truly a good dog to HIS people. He loves his pack (his family) fiercely. Bella loves her carrots as a treat.
In the morning she loves her milk bones then her scrambled eggs for breakfast. She will not eat dry dog food. But will eat can food for dinner.
Bella would be better with an older couple.
She was military trained but failed due to her love for being vocal.
Bella had a lot of land to roam.

Courtesy Listing: Max, a very sweet loving dog. Definitely loves to cuddle and play; loves getting all of the attention; he is very bouncy especially if you play fetch with him. He’s a big baby. He wants to be in your lap all of the time; an ideal home would be with a family with kids or just an active family in general. Preferably the only male dog.

Not Neutered; not up to date on vaccinations;
Currently on Seresto collar for flea and tick
Dogs: (What ages been around? How did he/she act around them? How much time has he/she spent around them?) he is food aggressive with dogs (not at all with humans) and did good with his brother most of the time but both were not neutered and fought sometimes. He did fine with my moms chihuahua which is a girl.
Cats: he’s never been around a cat
Kids: (What ages been around? How did he/she act around them? How much time has he/she spent around them?) he’s been around my nieces and nephews (6 months-9 years old) did great with all of them. So very friendly and loving.

FINAL PLEA FOR WOLFDOG RESCUES

We are on week 3 of the largest rescue operation in VRC history. We have an AMAZING group of people assisting us in the capture, securing and taking care of the 50 plus (now it's down to 30 - 40) dogs and wolfdog mixes left behind when their owner committed su***de.

The owner of the dogs had sold his property but then refused to move leaving the new owner no choice but to file eviction after 6 months of pleading for him to move on his own. For reasons that only he knows, the owner of the dogs, took his own life, leaving all of these dogs to fend for themselves.

We came in to assist the Henderson County Sheriffs Dept. to the location formerly know as "Starcross Wolves of Athens, TX" Joining us were so many great people including the kick ass team at Twisted Tails Animal Rescue who have been using their expertise and awesome equipment to capture the dogs that we have so far.

While there are still some that appear to be "regular dogs" the majority left behind also appear to be "wolfdog mixes" (low to mid-content). For obvious reasons, we are not able to do DNA tests on them at this time, so we are "guesstimating" by look which of course is not always accurate.

Every legal and legitimate wolfdog rescue in the country has been made aware of the situation but none so far have been able to take any of these dogs. And if you are a LEGAL wolfdog rescue and you are just finding out about this AND can take even one dog, please feel free to email us.

Respectfully we are NOT looking for suggestions or for any of you to do Google searches for us. We have done that and continue to do it on our own. What we are looking for are any LEGAL wolfdog rescues to contact us PERSONALLY THEMSELVES and let us know if they can take even one dog.

Sadly this may be our final plea for help and then we will have to accept that the remaining wolfdogs are now apart of VRC (something that will take a toll on us but we will figure it out) and they will remain with us for the remainder of their lives on the property here in Athens, TX, while we raise the money to buy the property from the new owner who is overwhelmed with grief over the situation.

In the future we will be exploring private adoptions but we need to get to know the dogs first, get them vetted, etc.

Tonight we will continue our task at hand and do what's best for the dogs that up until 3 weeks ago, no one care about and left them to survive on their own. If you would like to join the and the , we welcome any donation, no matter how small. There is much work to be done and we do it for the dogs.

Meet the Lone Ranger, Ranger for short. Doesn’t he have the most beautiful mask! Not only is he handsome but he has one of the sweetest dispositions of any dog I have ever come in contact with. All he needs is a loving home and friend. He is highly intelligent so he learns quickly. Even though less than a year old, he is a very calm puppy but likes to run, and with those long legs he can run like the wind! It is a sight to behold.

Although I cannot say he is fully housebroken, of all the times he has been in my home he has never once had an accident. He is extremely good with other dogs and with people, is up-to-date on all of his shots, is heartworm negative and has been neutered. This sweet boy will bring a lot of joy to someone’s home.

Courtesy Post: PLZ SHARE, Zoey, the most beautiful german Shepherd husky cross there is. This special girl is on the hunt for the most absolute perfect home, and only the best will do for her. Zoey is around 6-8 years old but still a very active and lively woman. She’s smart, walks well on a leash, and is completely crate and potty trained. Even though it takes her a little bit to warm up to strangers and strange places, she is one of the most affectionate and most cuddly dogs out there and she is so great and gentle with children. She will happily sleep at your feet in bed all night or snuggle up in the couch beside you but she also loves to run, swim, play tug and fetch, and her favorite if chasing down the water hose. Zoey absolutely loves other dogs and it will be required that she has another dog to be with in her new home and she also does perfectly fine with cats with slow introductions. On the downside, Zoey does have anxiety issues and she has proven to be quite capable of jumping chain link or wooden fences, so a really secure yard is required. As for her anxiety, its something that with either good work outs to tire her out plus some anxiety treats, or her having someone at the home majority of the time, it won’t be a problem. Good times at Petsmart adoption event. We left with the same amount of dogs as we arrived. Sometimes that's the way it goes...sometimes I leave with more than I showed up with too!
