I am updating my Payment Plan terms. Same general concept applies, 25% non-refundable deposit is required to place an animal on hold. Then, ideally, 25% paid over the next 3 weeks (4 weeks of payments in total). Shipping (if applicable) cost will be added to the last payment, or depending on cost (based on distance) may be its own 5th payment. That said, the major change is going to be:
I am reducing the minimum Payment Plan cost from $200 down to $100. For those looking to buy a gecko, but money is tight. 4 payments of $25 (plus shipping if applicable), may be appealing. For higher cost Payment Plans (groups or more expensive geckos) more than 4 weeks may be an option, but will be case-by-case. If you have any questions about my update, feel free to send a message. Shortly, I will be updating the Available Geckos album with photos I took at the end of the show Sunday and will hopefully be adding more as time progresses.
Thanks.
All set up and ready TO GO!!! Doors open in about 1 hour!
Tomorrow is the DAY!! Hope to see everyone at the Fairgrounds, Harvest Building, for the Midwest Reptile Show. 10 am until 4 pm. I will be bringing along 60 crested geckos! 8 of them being new to this coming Show! Those that are repeats (most, some have maxed out in their growth) have continued to grow! Several females available, a few being nearly ready to breed. Make sure to stop by and check them out. 60 means there will be a good variety of colors and patterns to choose from. "Basic" Harlequins up to Extreme, nearly full coverage, Harlequins. "Basic" pinstripes, up to Quadstripes! With Emptyback, Superstripe, Softscale, and many more genes withing their lineage!
Happy Labor Day to all!
Reminder! Next Sunday is the next Midwest Reptile Show in Indianapolis. 10am to 4pm. Hope to see you there!
If you read my last post, and are waiting for Firefly and Ember x Smaug babies..... this is what they have the potential to produce/what the adults grow up to be. Keep in mind, these are NOT fired up, and if they were, my phone/camera doesn't really pick up red. That said, here are a handful of my Smaug, Red Extreme Harlequin future breeders/holdbacks from past seasons. Added a couple boys in the list as well.
1. Firefly x Smaug 2022. Female.
2&3. Delphox. Penelope x Smaug 2021.
4&5. Flareon. Firefly x Smaug 2021.
6. Red Devin. Penelope x Smaug 2021
7. Inferno. Firefly x Smaug 2021
These ALL fire up RED, Inferno the darkest Flareon the brightest, everyone else I'm between. ALL have nice Orange Pattern, and many have White Pattern as well. Very few spots as well, but there are a few here and there. These should ALL be breeding in 2025, along with Smaug going to Firefly and Ember. 2025 is going to be INSANE with these (and more....) Red Extreme Harlequins!
Changes may come, but a quick snapshot of a few of my 2023 Holdback Selections:
1. Nova x Grovyle. Super unique (at least to me), High Orange Pattern DARK base Harlequin. Not fully fired up, so missing full contrast. More importantly, when fully fired down, you cannot see any pattern!
2. Ember x Smaug. Fires up Smaug's bright Red, Extreme Harlequin with White Spot. Unfired in this photo. But another great Red example of what Smaug produces...that said, (assuming female) I have plenty Red Smaug daughters. Smaug is planned to go with Firefly and Ember again in 2025, I will likely not keep ANY, so start saving up. Females like this will range anywhere between 1500$ to 2500$, and I have no reason to discount them!
3. Lav x Perseus. Extreme Contrast Tricolor Quadstripe. This is just one example from the pairing, I have a few like this. They also have very strong Emptyback and Superstripe lineage behind them!
4. Ruby x Merlot. Bright Red (not fully fired in photo, to get an idea of color, take a look at Pomegranate in the breeder female album). Emptyback Quadstripe!
5. Belle x Cass. Yellow Phantom Quadstripe. I LOVE my Phantom Quadstripes, what's another one. Plus, unless this one goes male, I could use more Yellow Phantom Females. If goes male, will keep as a back-up to Legend.
Definitely more holbacks to select, and photograph. I do not plan to keep many back from 2023, so keep eyes open for when these start becoming available because a lot of higher end geckos coming soon...
Quick little photo op/post before the sun sets. Some girls I am excited to be breeding next season. These are my up and coming Yellow girls. Couple of Pinstripe, couple of Phantoms, and a few Quadstripes (obviously). With one at the very end, to remind everyone of how nice Serenity looks...
We'll start off with the Pinstripe girls! Photo 1, out of Lav x Spike (2020), Iris. Very nice, Yellow base Pinstripe. 2, out of Lav x Spike (2021), Unnamed. Nice dark Yellow Phantom Pinstripe partial Quadstripe. 3, out of Dandelion x Cass (2021), Unnamed. Another Dark Yellow Phantom Pinstripe, but has those Red undertones that I am working with. Seeing how her Darker Yellow base compares to my Brighger Yellow base girls that also have the Red undertones.
From there we move into the Yellow Quadstripe girls! 4, out of Lav x Spike (2021), Unnamed. Nice Yellow Quad girl. 5, out of Lav x Spike (2020), Wildflower. Dark Yellow Phantom Quadstripe. 6, out of Lillian x Chernobyl (2021), Unnamed. Super Clean Yellow Quadstripe. 7, out of Lillian x Chernobyl (2021), Unnamed. Hypo Yellow Quadstripe. Splitting the sisters into Thin lateral striping, and Thick lateral pattern with striping.
Last, but not least, an update on Serenity! Jet Black and Cream Clean Quadstripe. Out of Dandelion x Cass (2021). She is definitely one of my favorite productions from 2021, extremely excited for her to be breeding next season!

Part 2. Recently, I needed to buy mealworms to boost my current colony, as I am feeding nearly 2000 mealworms per week to my geckos. So the last show, I purchased 5000 in total, to have feeders, but to also ensure I had more beatles for future breeding. Mealworms all seemed healthy, so not bashing the insect breeder by any means, BUT this is the adult beatle from that batch. Compared to my old colony, this new batch of beatles are half the size. Which means the mealworms aren't nearly as big as what I have been producing. Smaller mealworms means less protein, and overall less nutrients. Not necessarily based off of percentage, but based on how many I have to use to feed. If these new mealworms are only half the size, I have to feed twice the amount. I guess, my point at the end is this. If you have the space, put the effort into breeding your own feeders. Definitely have more control of their health by what you are feeding them, and in cases like mine, there is a significant difference in size.
Unfortunately, I can only upload one video per post, so I will need to split this into two posts. As you all know, I breed (at least try to) my own feeder insects. Only purchasing more when starting a new colony or need to boost mine. I have a few reasons as to why. The first being, "healthy feeders means healthy geckos". Not talking bad on bulk insect breeders, but if I can keep my insects better/healthier, then my geckos reap the benefits. The second reason is highlighted in these short videos. This first video, is a fairly fresh (not completely black yet) molted mealworm, into its adult beatle form. This first video is one from my current colony that I have been breeding for the past 3 years or so....
The yellow girl out of Lemonade x Titan (the last video) is stunning. But this little possible female is absolutely INSANE! Out of Firefly x Smaug. Does have a red base, somewhere under the pattern, but definitely A LOT of pattern on this Red Extreme Harlequin. (In case you phone/computer has issues loading/playing the videos, I will post a couple photos in the comments)
Roach feeding days are the best! Caught this Tundra x Smaug holdback fired up, and took a roach right off the tongs! Yes, that gecko really is that RED! Sitting at just under 5 grams, has a lot more color development left. Don't mind the little spots of Pangea on the towel. Will be cleaned after ample time is given to devour remaining roaches. I've found most babies won't eat bugs if handled on bug day, even if the "handling" is just for a simple paper towel change.

I have always loved seeing, working with, and keeping reptiles. When I was younger I got my first pet snake, and the love of reptiles grew from there. Now I not only own several snakes, I also own a few gecko species. I’m most excited about being able to keep and breed Eyelash Crested Geckos, not for the money from sales, but for the fun and excitement of bringing new life into the world. I love owning and producing high-quality crested geckos, and plan to expand to other species.
