I love the UPS Dogs account but this is the first time I've seen a driver pay tribute to a dog's passing and I absolutely love it. ❤🐾

This pupper has been the bane of my delivery existence over the years. Typical German shepherd with a big bark and big teeth.
My first real memory that stuck with me was the time she had me trapped in the chicken coop. It was the only place I could get to before she got me. The kids finally saved me.
It was love/hate from the get go but over many, many years I won her over with a continuous supply of dog treats. She still barked and chased the brown truck and I still did not trust her but she did eventually allow me into her domain to do my job.
She got older and moved slower and it was hard for her to move but she still mustered the energy to try to chase the brown truck.
I was on vacation last week and I got a message from her family. They were letting her cross over the Rainbow Bridge because her health was so poor. They did say that she would only get up for me when I went by and delivered to their house.
They wanted pictures to remember her by with the man she loved to hate.
She even let me pat her on the head.

Perhaps doggy heaven will be full of brown trucks to chase. Who knows?

It's crap like this that ticks me off and keeps me from doing different things with Lola. I don't like the idea of dog parks. Never have. I'm sure they're great for some people and some dogs. Because I don't like dog parks, I was searching for dog- friendly beaches. Not an actual off-leash dog beach. Lola does not have a reliable recall in the house (maybe not that bad...I tend to exaggerate when I'm annoyed) - so I'm sure as hell not going to test it at on off- leash beach! And no, I'm not going to an off- leash area and keep her on a leash. I know there is a great beach in Santa Barbara that is separated into off-leash and leash-required areas. Sounds perfect but went searching for something similar a little closer to home. Found one that sounded good until I read this (see photo):

What. The. Actual. 🤬! All I want is a place my dog and I can enjoy with as little stress as possible. Where everyone is following the same rules. I don't care if your dog "loves everybody". If you're letting your dog off leash where a leash is required, why should I trust YOUR judgment?

Four years later, you're probably asking yourself (or not), "Did she print more photos, mail more cards, etc.?" In short, nope!

I did create more tangible memories for strangers, family, and friends though. And even though they weren't my memories, they still made me happy.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with your memories and allowed me to share them with you in some small way.

2022 has me feeling optimistic and I hope it's a great year of making great new memories for all of us.

The ravenous rage.
The savage snarl.
The malevolent mastications of Mario the Merciless Moocher await me at the bottom of the steps as I attempt to deliver yet another package on the mean streets of Newberg, Oregon.
Flashing his fiendish fangs, he furiously attempts to bully, bark, bluster and bamboozle his way into extra biscuits at the expense of yours truly, counting upon fear and terror to intimidate me into meekly submitting to his relentless demands. If he had his way, I would simply pour the entire contents of the biscuit box into his gaping maw, whereupon they would be instantaneously inhaled without so much as a perfunctory attempt at even chewing them first.
But all his histrionics amounts to naught, because I have faced him before and I know the truth; beneath his braggadocious bravado beats the heart of a big bluffing baby who is actually so timid that he runs in fear from the sound of his own flatulence and he can be cowed with nothing more than a stern voice and a piercing gaze. But rather than resort to such grim tactics, I assuage his ego and allow him to keep his dignity by feigning fear of his wrath as I generously dispense the treats!
