In 1995, a budgie named Puck was accepted into the Guinness Book of World Records for having said at least 1,728 words! Who’s top of the class now?!

Wondering what size cage to use for your pet bird? Here's some hints:
For large birds, the interior living space of the cage should be at least 1.5 times the bird’s adult wingspan – in depth, width and height. For small birds such as Finches, Parakeets and Lovebirds, bars should be spaced no more than 5/8” apart. For medium birds such as Conures, Senegal Parrots, and Cockatiels bars spaced from ½” to 7/8” are appropriate. Large birds such as African Greys, Amazon Parrots, Cockatoos and Macaws should have cage bars spaced from 3/4” to 1 3/8” apart. Having properly spaced cage bars allows the bird to climb while reducing the risk of injury.

This week we’d like to introduce you to someone you probably already know, Debbie.
Debbie is the lady behind the birds and the one we all turn to for anything bird related. Whether it be grooming, general advice, training or help finding your missing bird... Debbie is the one you need. She’s almost as well known as her free-flying macaw, Flower.

Debbie has been in the exotic bird profession since 1984, birds being the focus of her life and taking her on a journey she never imagined.
She began working for some of the largest bird related industries including quarantine stations and other exotic bird facilities. In 1992, following her graduation as vet technician, Debbie opened the Arizona Bird Store, now one of the largest exotic bird stores in the southwest.
Her reputation as a professional handler and trainer, breeder, hand feeder, and legislation advocate in the pet bird industry is known internationally. As a member of prominent avian organizations she continues to advance the understand and well being of our beloved birds.

So you’re not alone in her being your go-to for any bird related question you might dream up. I think it’s safe to say we’d all be pretty lost without her.
