Rally to support our animal shelter!

The City Manager has fired Friends of Bisbee Animal Shelter, effective November 30th. Mayor David Smith is backing her, and our no-kill shelter is about to be euthanized. We need to get a BIG show of support in the finest Bisbee style -- make some signs, wear an animal costume, bring your dog -- let's make some noise and let the Council know that you want YOUR tax dollars to fund the shelter!

So happy to have Mr. Joe 🦇working with our newest dog walking buddy, the beautiful and most well behaved, Enya! She was adopted from our amazing Bisbee Animal Shelter recently from an awesome Bisbee newcomer.

Enya is a true gem 💎 and we feel blessed to be able to provide daily walks and care for her. She's got a pretty smart and rad 🤟🏼 mom, too! 💜

LAST DAY TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!

The City of Bisbee has been rewriting the part of our city code that pertains to animals. The proposed new ordinance is on the city council's agenda for Tuesday night, and we hope that you will reach out to your ward representatives and the mayor, and ask that they vote no.

Just one example: Under the new law, community (feral) cats will be owned by the person who feeds them, and there are penalties for having a "cat at large" and for having more than 5 cats. Also, feral cats are considered wildlife, and it is illegal to feed them. Yes, the feeding ban is back.

"Cat at large" also pertains to pets, so if your cat currently enjoys outdoor time, that will technically be illegal.

These are exactly the types of laws that progressive communities are removing from their code. Our proposed ordinance is regressive, punitive, and does not reflect our community's relationship with animals.

This is little Lonnie. She's so sweet and insightful and she has a message to share. 90% of cats absolutely HATE being boarded, among many other things! It can be pure terror for your kitty.

Working on his dance moves. I love the sudden burst of energy cats get!

I never thought he'd like toys, but he loves them. If you think your cat is too cool (like I did!) for toy mice or feather wands and the like, I challenge you to try it or make one! It's an inexpensive way to make sure they're stimulated.

Me and my late best girl, Sandy. I adopted her from Best Friends in LA many years ago. She was adopted and returned 7 times, according to staff. I was thrilled to have her by my side. She was a bit dog aggressive (hence the slip lead), but we worked it out. 🌞

We camped a lot and she loved to run in the streams, when we we were lucky enough to camp near them. We mostly spent time in the Mojave desert. 👽

Best Friends gave me a copy of, what I call, her "mug shot", when I adopted her. And I swear - she looked like Nick Nolte in it! 🤣 Is it just me??!!

I'm so happy she had a great end of life. And I'll always miss my "Sandman".

Pet memories are among the best. Take care of them, treat them and have fun with them, while you can!

It's been a long time since I've checked in here - I hope all is well with everyone. I know it's been a super challenging time for (most) every one of us and I hope it's a reminder that we are all in this together - and blessed enough to be so, with our pets!

They have (likely) become even more important than ever during this time. Give them a hug, kiss or treat from me!

I have been working on my photography in some downtime. What have you been doing to stay occupied?

Just a reminder to get your pets microchipped or check your pets chip! Many vet hospitals are offering a special this month to “check the chip” and microchipping, in general, is a very affordable way to keep track of your pets. Especially indoor/outdoor cats!
