Integrated Whole Body Experience-IWBE We work with canine handlers/trainers to help read behaviors associated with whole body human remains

We provide quality training, research and development opportunities to search and rescue/recovery professionals. June 8-11, 2023 was our inaugural event where trailing and human remains detection canines (from the United States and Canada), UAV and Dive Operations, 35 members in total, descended upon Geneva, Ohio this past weekend for the first Integrated Whole Body Experience (IWBE) workshop host

ed by Big Creek Search Dogs. Throughout the four days of instruction, canine handlers gained experience in sharpening their observational skills to interpret canine behavior while working with sources ranging from whole bodies (not parts placed together) in various environments down to trace evidence. Trailing canines learned how to systematically work through aversion associated with the odor of a whole human body using successive approximations. UAV and dive operators tested new equipment and technologies while being exposed to the many ways in which each can be integrated into search efforts. All canine teams received personalized coaching and feedback from Instructors such as Lisa Higgins, Craig Schultz, Rick Kelly.

We want to thank everyone for your patience these past few weeks. All of our instructors, assistant instructors, and organizers have now returned from their deployments to Texas, and we are so grateful for the safe return of everyone who assisted in those search efforts.

Now that we’re back, we’re working hard behind the scenes to finalize details. Within the next few days we will be announcing when registration will open and providing all of the information you’ll need to get ready.

We want to apologize for not having follow‑up registration information/date available yet for the 2026 seminar. Several of our organizers and instructors are currently deployed—or preparing to deploy—to Texas to assist with search efforts in the communities impacted by the recent flooding.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this time. As soon as schedules allow, we will share updated registration details.

In the meantime, please join us in sending our thoughts and prayers for safe deployments and safe returns for all of our seminar instructors, assistant instructors, organizers, participants, and followers who are, or soon will be, assisting in the search efforts in Texas.
