If you have always wanted goats but thought you needed rolling acres to keep them, Nigerian Dwarfs might be just what you were always looking for. They are small (think fat Labrador size) sweet and, provided you can give them shelter(garden shed?) sturdy fencing to protect the roses and plenty of hay they will be very happy and give you years of companionship and love. You will need holding number from DEFRA but that usually only involves a phone call and doesn't cost anything.
We have kept Nigerians for many years now and a presently enjoying our latest bunch of babies. They are currently round about 7 weeks old and will be able to leave their mums some time around July when they will be fully weaned and ready for their independence. We never sell single goats as they would be very lonely and miserable on their own and we only sell uncastrated males to very special homes with large enough herds to keep a male fully occupied. Having said that, please don't discount the little boys. When they have had their "bits" off (before they leave home) they make lovely pets. No butting and no nasty smelly habits! By the time they are ready for their new homes all our goats have been vaccinated, treated with parasite prevention both internal and external, and aertagged as required. They will not have had their horns removed . Horns are a part of a goat's cooling system and we have never known own of our goats to cause any problems with their horns.
If you would like to know any more about our goats or to come and see the babies please get in touch. If you want to reserve a pair you can do so with a refundable deposit and pay the balance on collection.
Looking for ward to seeing you soon.
Sue
