☀️ WELCOME SUMMER ☀️

Siblings Banjo and Poppy are celebrating the first day of summer spending time in the water! 🌊
While Banjo's favorite activity may be swimming, the naps that he takes afterwards are quite a show. You'll find him belly up snoozing away on the furniture.
Poppy on the other hand loves to greet her owners at the door crying any time they come home.

TRYGVE & THOR 💙

All the way form Cartersville, Georgia (circa 2021), these 2 GSD's (German Shepherd Dog) sure do set the bar high!
They moved to their separate forever homes (both here in STL) when they were 16 weeks old! 🎒🧳

All this time, and have never gone more than a week without hanging out. Sleep-overs are not uncommon for these guys! They love to run, wrestle, and ruck together in state and county parks. Castlewood is their favorite because they usually get to swim after a hike. 🌊🐾

They get a lot of attention when they're out together, as people don't see long coated shepherds very often!

While we hope everyone takes the time to celebrate all the father figures in their life, we’re taking an extra special moment to celebrate 2 of our very own. The hardworking individuals who help not only raise their own family, but who are always willing to help our hospital as well.

He must be on his owners every second of the day! The minute you sit down, he will immediately find you and snuggle 😻
Typically, he likes to be as close to your face as possible. He will also put his paws around your neck and purr!
He is the sweetest cat his family has ever had the honor of having, and he greets everyone when they walk in the door 🥰

We’re wishing the happiest of birthdays to our sweet Luna girl 🎂

While spending your birthday at the vet may not be the most exciting thing to do, we sure made the best of it.
The team made her a birthday hat, and she got LOTS of cuddles and kisses from everyone. 💖

Firework season is quickly approaching, be prepared early!

🦴Feed and Play- giving your pet "high dollar" toys and treats during a stressful event, may help them to associate scary sounds, with good things!

😴Create a calm environment- providing your pet with a safe place to go can be very helpful. This can be a dark room or a kennel away from others. The more soundproof you can make it, the better. Provide your pet with lots of blankets and bedding

🤍White Noise- this can help drown out and muffle the sounds of the fireworks. Music can also be a helpful way of distracting

🐕"Run it out" - a tired dog, is a happy dog! Getting lots of play time in days leading up to a holiday will help keep them relaxed during stressful events. The more tired they become, the less energy they'll have to pace and pant around the home.

As always, make sure ALL pets have proper identification incase they do run away.
💊 If your pet needs medications, contact us ASAP. Medication requests tend to heighten during this time of year. We want to ensure there is adequate time for staff to fill the medications for you.

Tongue Out Tuesday!! 😜

Everyone meet Mia Sofia! She is a sweet but sassy 5 year old Havanese!

While she may be living the life of her dreams now in her big backyard, it hasn't always been that way. She lived in a puppy mill until she was rescued by her fantastic family!

She really enjoys standing on her hind legs to make herself look bigger than she actually is 🐾

At times, you can find her being mischievous and chewing on her mom's jean belt loops! 🙊

Meet Miller 🖤

Miller came in for her first visit this week and got all kinds of love from the medical team!

She is 11 weeks old and weighs 14.2 lbs!
Having a sister named Mac makes them a perfect Duo 🎤

In addition to her loving on her sister, Miller also really enjoys her squeaky ball and her hedgehog toy 🦔

We can’t wait to watch her grow!

Meet Maple 🍁

Maple is a fabulous tongue out Tuesday candidate, with a tongue that matches her harness perfectly!

Maple really enjoys playing with her squeak toys in her spare time. 🧸
She is not a fan of thunderstorms, so these last couple weeks have been quite an adventure ⛈️
While we find the recent cicadas invasion to be a nuisance, Maple enjoys snacking on them 🤭

She came in yesterday for her first visit with Dr. Mike. At 8 weeks old she’s weighing in at 7.6 pounds of pure cuteness 😍

She of course has a few favorites which include:
🌱 ☀️ Being outside
🦴 🦷 Her teething bone
🐶 Her stuffed dog

Something tells us she’s already on her way to be a professional by posing for her picture 📸

‼️Oh no! Your pet ate cicadas, now what?!

Have no fear, in most cases Cicadas are considered VERY safe. 👍🏼

However, it’s never a bad idea to watch out for standard GI symptoms. 🤕
These can include vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, and abdominal pains.

Cicadas are not venomous or poisonous and they cannot bite or sting your pet.

They can also be high in protein 💪🏼 so feel free to add them to your after gym snacks 😉

While these issues are rare, if you notice them please give our hospital a call. From there we can discuss further recommendations. ☎️

💙🐾🩺 World Veterinary Day 🩺🐾💙

Today, we take the time to acknowledge our own and a field of essential doctors who are sometimes forgotten.

We couldn’t be more thankful for our veterinarians that work tirelessly, day in and day out, to provide care for our patients. They have undergone extensive medical training, continue to obtain new knowledge every year, and are responsible for the public health and safety of our neighboring communities.

Their efforts will never go unnoticed by us, and we are so incredibly lucky to have them.

So to Dr. Mike and Dr. Samantha, thank you. We’re so happy you are both a part of the Arch Animal family.

Kevin

Kevin is a Sphynx who loves nothing but trouble! He may not have hair or whiskers but he has an incredible amount of s***k (and clothes) to make up for it! 🤪

At only 3 years old, he has already had 3 foreign body surgeries and 1 urinary blockage. He loves getting into anything rubber 🩴 and will frequently steal bananas from his parents counters 🍌

Kevin loves to cuddle in fluffy blankets, or with his Great Dane brother. They’re quite an interesting duo.

Louis was hard at work yesterday installing the new HVAC system in the lobby! 👷🏼‍♂️🚧
He can get quite distracted, so installation will continue into today.

While he's a hard worker, he can tend to be a little messy. 🔨
Please excuse his mess while we work toward keeping the lobby cool during these upcoming warmer months. ☀️
