Some confidence building today with Merci, the 3 month old Rough Collie/Australian Shepherd!

Merci is with me for proper and crucial socialization/exposure to lots of new things as well as learning her basic obedience and developing good leash skills.

As a service dog prospect it’s crucial that we stay consistent with her training and help instill in her the confidence and skills that she’ll need when she goes to live with her new owner and starts the process to become her psychiatric service dog. 🐾❤️

Yay for a little rain! Just a thought: if we don’t expose our dogs to the different weather elements, how do we expect them to be fine when it’s happening? I love to train and play with my dogs when it’s wet and rainy out, in the wind, during thunder/lightening storms. I’ve found that it help makes for more confident dogs that can be anywhere and not have to be drugged up during stressful times. Same thing goes with exposing them, from a safe distance of course, to fireworks and other loud noises like that. It all starts when they’re young though! Early exposure is the most important thing. Now get out there and play with your dogs☔️🐾

What’s the most important part about owning such a big pack? Teaching a calm mindset! This is one of our favorite things to do some days. Get outside, enjoy the weather, work on some impulse control and watch the world go on around us. 😌🐾

Today kickstarted our socialization group classes and it went amazing! I had so much fun and loved seeing some old and new faces and meeting some new clients as well. I’m excited for what’s in store for the future!🐾❤️
