Axel and all of us at Bark and Roll would like to wish you a Happy New Year! Axel is still available and ready for adoption. This sweet guy is approximately 3 years old and weighs about 7 lbs. Although tiny, Axel has a BIG personality and is always happy. Looking for a snuggle buddy, well he gets an A+ in this department as he loves to be loved. Don’t forget to take care of those fur babies during the fireworks that will start going off this evening, tomorrow and possibly the next few days. Make sure your baby has on a collar with contact information, fences shut and secure and if you have to take your baby out please put on them on a leash/lead and walk with them. A lot of pups are frightened by the loud noises and the colorful bursts in the sky that so many go missing this time of year. Be smart and safe!

Look who’s ready to find his FUREVER home! Axel is approximately 2-3 years of age we tink and is heart worm negative. He has picked up on potty training and has had no accidents. He is kennel trained as well. Axel always wants to be right next to you at all times, he is such a snuggle bug. He is good with other dogs big and small but he does need a chill house because he is fearful of new things, people and noises. No children due to his size and fear of loud noises. Shoutout to one of our faithful and dedicated fosters and truly one of our Bark and Roll family members, Leah Lou on her retirement as well as Indie (the service dog) that retired with her. Leah has been with EMS for 30 years and dedicated all she has into her job. Leah has paved the way for women in EBREMS being respected and successful. Fairness, honesty, nurturing and respect are some of the traits she has passed on to her colleagues. Thank you so much for your service, sacrifice and dedication to your work.

Indie landed an opportunity of a lifetime when she joined the EMS team. She proudly served along side the men and women of EMS, local public safety organizations and frontline health care workers. Indie visited patients in the hospital to help their mental state during stressful times. Indie will live at her retirement living with Leah and enjoying just being a pup. What a special girl she is.

Congratulations to you both, your retirement is well deserved. Here’s to your next chapter together and making more memories when you want.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Bark and Roll! Our rescues are all very thankful for us and their new families. We are thankful for our staff that continue to devote their time and efforts making a difference in our rescues lives.

Charlie got to spend a couple of days this week with a foster family and came back this morning with a fabulous report. They said Charlie was the perfect gentleman. He got along well with their young children, their other dogs and their cats! Charlie would literally be the perfect family pet. Charlie is also kennel trained, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and is current on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Charlie came to Crooked Creek Kennels extremely malnourished with wounds on his neck where a collar or chain had been. After all he’s been through, he is still just the sweetest man. How about a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY pup update! I know everyone remembers Survi (now JJ), our sweet guy that was abandoned and left without food or water at an empty house to fend for himself. Upon rescue, we were not sure we would be able to save him. Well, take a good look at him now. This is what rescue and a little love can do.

JJ loves to snuggle and watch TV (or just watch himself in the TV). We knew when we had JJ that he would have to have the perfect adopter for us to let him go and let me tell you, there couldn’t have been a better match than the one he has now. He is so loved, possibly quite spoiled and doing absolutely amazing.🐾

I was contacted this morning about this dog. I was told that he wandered up to a house when he was a puppy and they’ve fed him since then. They no longer can afford to feed him so they planned to throw him out on the side of the road. Someone gave them my number as an alternative option. I am way way way way over max capacity. However I can’t let this poor dog just be dumped out like trash when I know I can figure it out somehow. Please if you’ve ever considered fostering. This is your sig

Another sweet pup at Crooked Creek Kennels that is up for adoption. This precious girl is Franny and she is approximately 2-3 years old. Franny has been spayed, vaccinated and is currently on Trifexis. She is very lovable and likes to be very close to you. She is excellent at snuggling. She is a bit of a chewer but as long as she has toys, she is usually good about just chewing on them. She is dog friendly and loves people. This is Preacher and is at Crooked Creek Kennels in Kentwood, Louisiana. He is approximately 2-3 years old and was rescued from an abusive home. He was very malnourished when he entered into rescue but is doing great now. He’s dog friendly, very gentle and a little shy. He’s up to date on vaccines, currently on Trifexis and has been neutered. Have a DOGgone Happy Halloween!🎃 👻

Remember, dogs SHOULD NOT eat candy. Many candies contain ingredients that are toxic to dogs and those that are not toxic can cause stomach issues. Dark chocolate especially can make your dog very ill and can even be fatal. Trick or treat safely this evening and please be candy aware and keep away for your pets.

Meet sweet Roux, she is a Rottweiler mix. This poor girl had her bottom teeth removed and top teeth filed down so we are guessing her age to be around three. She is shy at first but warms up with a little time. Once she gets to know you she is very affectionate and playful! She was dumped in a rural area in pretty bad shape with a skin infection, emaciated and full of scars. We believe she was used as breeding stock (thus the teeth removed and scars). She has gained her weight and has gotten skin, body and spirit healthy. She is now looking for her forever home. She is good with other dogs and kids. She is more confident with another dog so we recommend a home with another dog.

Pup update to put a smile on your face to start your weekend!

This furry handsome guy is Harvey (originally named Hal) and was adopted from us in September 2018 after Hurricane Harvey. He is living his best life. He loves doing what all Shih Tzus do - cuddling, sleeping, and just being cute. Harvey is such a sweetheart and knows no strangers. His sister is a Rat Terrier and she trains with her human for marathons. Harvey thinks he is a runner too, he goes about 1/2 mile and heads home for a nap while his sister and human keep running. Although his energy runs out sooner, they tell him he is a good runner as to not hurt his feelings. So happy Harvey found his perfect home!🐾

Look how sweet this is! Millie was adopted from us in June of 2018 and became the baby of the family. Since then, a human baby was added to the family in January 2022. It didn’t take these to long to become best friends. Here is a picture that captures true unconditional love from the both of them. This sweet boy is Roen and is pictured with HIS Millie. Mille is an absolute gentle giant with him and Roen is so gentle with her! Hope this pictures makes you smile today. Pictures like this make what we do in rescue all worth it. 🐾💙

We’re so very happy to see how well Survi is doing BUT so sad that this incredibly sweet guy has not been adopted. Survi is our guy that was found all matted and underneath that nothing but skin and bones. So many of you donated to his care and just look at him now. We need your help again, help us find Survi a good home. He is around a year old and as you can see very happy and playful. He is very loyal and loves to cuddle too. Survi was left all alone and it’s a miracle he survived, he truly deserves to be loved and is ready to accept love. Survi Update

A little happiness and Survi update on this Wednesday morning. Survi has been checked out by the vet and didn’t have to be admitted to their hospital for any overnight stay. He only weighs in at 27 lbs and should be around 50-60 lbs. Blood work looked pretty good, he is heart worm negative, has a nasty ear infection and intestinal parasites. We will continue his feedings every 3-4 hours. He is on crate rest so he doesn’t burn too many calories as we start to build up his body mass. He is getting little potty breaks and crate snuggles every 2-3 hours after meals. We would like to thank everyone that has donated, sent checks, shared his story and prayed for Survi. You guys were able to cover his medical testing and current medicines. He still has a long way to go but on the right path now for sure. We have tried to thank each one of you personally so sorry if we missed a few. PayPal wouldn’t allow us to thank you in their app. You have restored our faith in humanity. Survi is a happy guy and along with us he wants to say thank you for your giving hearts, just look at that happy tail. We will continue to update on his progress throughout his journey.
