We were excited to join Sea Turtle Recovery and many other turtle lovers this morning on the beach in front of Jenkinson's Aquarium for the release of Taylor Drift (Kemp's Ridley), Teddy Swims (a hybrid) and LuLu (Loggerhead). Andy the Aldabra tortoise update! 🐢 In May, Andy got a visit from veterinary cardiologist Andrew White, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM from Garden State Veterinary Specialists for concerns over a possible heart condition. Medication & treatment started based on that visit. Dr. White did a follow-up visit recently and we are happy to report Andy no longer has fluid around his heart & his heart muscle is contracting way better than it was. Which means treatment is working! If everything keeps going well, Andy won't need another cardiology appointment until next year. Huge thank you to @gsvs_eatontown for their continued support and guidance. Big shout-out to our Reptile Animal care team and Zoo Veterinary team for their day-to-day care! 🐢💚🩺 Andy can be seen in the indoor area of our Island Giants exhibit. Our other Aldabra tortoises, Patches and Delilah, can be seen outdoors in African Adventure.
